I'm 22, have an amazing little boy named Marley who is 3 years old. I work at a video game store, so obviously I LOVE video games! I have an Assassins Creed tattoo on the back of my neck. This is a huge transformation, and I'm doing this to get better thighs and a butt (Mainly) =] I hope I can stick with this and stay determined!! :)

Hi! Re: your question on running, once you are able to run 5 minutes straight outside, you'll be surprised at how fast your stamina builds up of you consistently run 2-3 times per week. I started out jogging 1 minute intervals last August, and I could run 5 miles with maybe two minutes of walking by Thanksgiving. Don't be afraid to go slow at first. The speed will come later when your body is more used to the motion of running. Good luck!

Hey there! Welcome to the awesome world of running! I'm glad to hear that you've decided to become active. Once you get a taste of the running lifestyle, I bet you'll be hooked. :)

As a new runner, the best advice I can give you is: don't run faster than you are comfortable with. Really! You should be able to hold a conversation with someone and run at the same time. Running slowly at first will strengthen your lungs, heart, and condition your muscles. Try 30 minutes, three times a week, at a slow pace. Gradually increase your distance only when you feel comfortable. Try joining a beginner running group for motivation. The social interaction of a running group makes running more enjoyable.

Other tips I have:
* Wear comfortable, "tech" clothing that will wick away sweat. Being able to cool your core body temperature down while running is important. Wicking fabric helps cool the body and is comfortable.
* Drink plenty of water! You have no idea how much water and salt you can lose from running. Make sure to drink water around the time you are running. Eating a handful of pretzels, cottage cheese, or other salty foods can help post-run.
* Eat complex carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, and beans! Also, fruit helps pre-run. Running requires fuel and carbs are a ready-available source of it. :) For recovery, make sure to get lean protein from meat, fish, eggs, beans/legumes, etc. Protein helps your muscles rebuild and recover from runs.
* Get plenty of quality sleep.

Best of luck to you!
