That is my mantra.....

The day before I started back on this journey toward a better and healthier me, I was a different person. The change of a move and career was not something I was adapting to well. I was lost in my own laziness and self pity which resulted in a more than 50 pound gain from my previous Spark People success story.

I realized, my joints hurt, my migraines were taking over my life, and I had no energy. Lack of good sleep left me too cranky to be a good role model for my children. It sure as heck made it impossible for me to enjoy quality time with my very active husband and boys. Even sex had gotten uncomfortable! Well, for me at least - I am lucky enough to have a husband who loves me in whatever package I come in. But with clothes fitting horribly and flaps, rolls, and bumps exposed it was hard to feel "sexy."

I didn't even know there was a problem. Here in North Carolina, BIG IS BEAUTIFUL! Corn bread, real butter, salt, bacon (and fat) and beer - lots of beer. That is what little girls are made of down here.

YES! BIG IS BEAUTIFUL! Lazy is not! And let me tell you, Big sure isn't HEALTHY.

So, now I am focused. While I have a goal weight and a timeline in mind, I am focusing on non-scale victories.


I'm not there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.


Run when you can, walk when you can't run, crawl when you can't walk - just keep moving forward.

Short term and reward

1) 175 - New Bed Sheets (awarded)

2) 170- New Kitchen tool (awarded- spiral slicer!)

3) 165 - Tickets to a performance (Go Red Sox!)

4) 160- new outfit
(AWARDED: 5/30/15)

5) 155- mini vacation

6) 150- Night out

7) 145 - Spa day

My Program:
1) Drink 1 gallon of water per day

2) Decrease caffeine intake

3) Walk 3-4 times per week

4) Do strength/yoga exercises 3-4 X per week

5) Stretch daily

6) Focus on School at least 1 hour daily

7)Take 20 minutes of each day for just me

8) Try something new 1x per month

9) Get 7-9 hours of sleep each night

10) Total accountability

My name is Darrah. I am a 34 year old mother of 2. In my spare time I like to roller skate, dance at the local country bar, and do Karaoke.

At home you can often find me curled up with a good book, cleaning house, or tending my garden.


Other Information:
My favorite book is "The Mists of Avalon" I have tons of others I like but that one always holds up.

As far as movies go, my tastes are pretty diverse. I have a collection of close to 1600 movies between my VHS and my DVD's so I obviously like a wide variety :)
