Taking it One Day at a Time

At nearly 40 years old it is time for me to really make a change. One that will stick.

I am bound and determined that this is going to be my time. My day. My year.

In my lifetime I was at a fairly normal weight until I was about 19. Since then though, I've only been close to that normal weight again a couple times. The past few years I've managed to lose 20 - 30 lbs and gain it back. Thankfully never going past the "high weight."

I have a Polar RS400 heart rate monitor with the footpod. It connects to my shoe and sends data to the wrist unit about my pace and distance. It is pretty accurate--to about a tenth of a mile, but it bugs me because it eats batteries like crazy. A fresh battery tracks everything perfectly, but as it weakens, my pace will zero out several times during a run. And, of course, if my pace zeroes out, the calculator assumes I am standing still, so the distance comes up short. It drives me crazy! But other than that, it is a very cool tool and has added a lot to my running.
