Taking it One Day at a Time

After quite a bit of an absence I am back on Spark.

Several years ago I started with Spark, and managed to get under 200lbs for a short while. Then the yo yoing began again.
Update: 8/25/12 - Wow .. My last update of my profile is exactly where I am at again... My dad passed away this past June. My brother said he'd stop smoking if I'd agree to get back into exercise and healthier eating. I of course agreed - would do anything to get him to stop smoking! So ... here I am ...

I am now back to where I was when I first started several years ago.

This time however I am not going to use the scale as a measurement, nor am I going to use a measuring tape.

My only focus is to take it one day at a time. Make the healthy choice regarding what I am eating or what activity I am doing or not doing - one day at a time.

My name is Laura. I am 36 and find that time is moving quickly.

Welcome to the SDA team! It's great to have you join our team. I started SP in January almost 2 lbs below my max weight ever, about 6 yrs ago. It's hard to be doing it over, but we can do it!

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you... and that you are not your own? 1 Cor. 6.19 NRSV

"Do not eat the bread of the stingy." Prov. 23.6-7 NRSV

See you at the team! Hope you've having a great Sabble, Lynn

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I did the marathon on my treadmill for the very reason you thought-now mentally I know I've done it. It was a bit earlier than I wanted to do it, but this weekend the family was out of town so I knew I had the morning there all to myself and no interruptions, so I figured, "why not?" I was scheduled for 16 miles and also figured, "get to 16, get tired, stop. If not, keep going." Once I got to 21 I was telling myself, "sure you can quit now-nobody cares and you've passed your goal for the day," then a scene came on in Run Fat Boy Run about "don't be a quitter, Dennis" (the main character), so I figured, well if he doesn't quit, why should I?

Wow, thank you so much! I hope that you will check in and tell me how your HM training is going. A running group is a great idea. Training with others will keep you accountable and also help regulate your mileage. I found a trail running group in VA that I want to check out when we are settled. I have never joined anything like that, but it looks like a lot of fun!

Best of luck and thanks again for all your support!

I have a Polar RS400 heart rate monitor with the footpod. It connects to my shoe and sends data to the wrist unit about my pace and distance. It is pretty accurate--to about a tenth of a mile, but it bugs me because it eats batteries like crazy. A fresh battery tracks everything perfectly, but as it weakens, my pace will zero out several times during a run. And, of course, if my pace zeroes out, the calculator assumes I am standing still, so the distance comes up short. It drives me crazy! But other than that, it is a very cool tool and has added a lot to my running.
