i would like to lose about 160 pounds. I weigh 303.5 pounds and need t o lose weight for my health. I am 50 years old. (Now 51) I have been overweight a "large" part of my life pardon the pun. I make jokes but it is a very serious matter for me. I am a walking time bomb for diabetes, and more to a point where it scares me. I am always tired and lacking energy. I have a very supportive fiance of 8 years who has worked very hard to beat his own addictions. He is worried I will die an early death so I need all the support I can get.

My Goals:
To keep attending TOPS every week for weigh in. Anyone wants to know about TOPS, the address is www.TOPS.org. To lose 2 pounds a week steady in my 51st year. Update, first goal is 10 pounds at the middle of dec. 09

My Program:
Eating healthy foods from the food groups such as SP. Strengh Training 30 min 3 x week with Pool exercises/swimming 30 min, 3x week. Walking 2 times a week for a total of 5 days of exercise.

Personal Information:
I am from beautiful Nanaimo, Vancouver Island British Columbia.

Other Information:
I enjoy the self help articles on SP and the people, self help books, time with my man, kids and grandkids, fishing, movies, playing guitar and singing, crafts

I am SSOOOO glad that you are back!!! The new challenge starts in November, I can let ya know when it starts, but until then, pop in the Nest. You can be an unofficial Hawk and lose with us until then. Come in, Introduce yourself again. And just say that you are a Hawk groupie until the next challenge when it becomes official again. Here I am back to bug emoticon you again. Hope you are doing fine.

I've been reading The South Beach Diet by Arthur Agatston, M.D. and it is very interesting, because he talks about Pre-diabetes or Insulin Resistance. He's a Cardiologist and his interest was in his obese patients and how to get them to lose the pounds, so he didn't start out trying to develop a diet to sell a book. People wanted the diet written out and it developed into a book.
He makes it plain that sugar and Insulin are the bases of our obesity problem, and all the refined carbs we eat. Of course you know that, but it helps to hear it from a doctor who is honest. emoticon
