I Can Do It!

Hi, My name is Jeanette (aka Nettie)
I turned, gulp, 61 this year.
I am married with 2 dogs (American Eskimo's)
I live in Southern California and retired in 2014 after 40 years working in the medical field.
I joined Sparkpeople to try to get healthier and
feel better about myself. Getting older is not
for sissies. And I want to be the best I can be
at any age and that is going to take some work !!
My husband & I bought a motorhome 2 1/2 years ...

emoticon emoticon Last week I worked 20 hours. This week I'll end up with 18. The seven hour shifts are tough - on my feet for pretty much all of it. But I do enjoy it. I was asked to volunteer at a homeless shelter in the next town over by some friends from church. Like you, I make donations. Stepping out of the box IS hard. And right now I have so much going on besides work. Maybe when things slow down a little. It still amazes me that I am busier now than when I was working full time!

Have a Happy Halloween! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

That plumber was a nasty piece of work. I bet some of that (maybe all of it) was going into his pocket. I had a garage try to charge me $100 to change a tire. When I complained, he said he could give me the "day rate" of $75. It was early afternoon. What was he trying to charge me before? I told him to forget it and called my neighbor, who changed it for free. You really have to watch out for dishonest people.

Work was a snap. I thought the long hours would be a drag but it went so fast. We were busy, and I had little projects to do, so that helped. This is going to work out just fine. emoticon
