Wow, what a year it has been.

On August 13, 2009: I went to what my Doctor called an education day. I had decided to have gastric by-pass and this was a requirement. They explained lots of changes and how I would have to eat right after surgery and that they wanted us to start eating like that 2 weeks before we had surgery. Well at this time I did not have a date as of yet for surgery, but thought, if you can live off that much food, then lets do it. I had already lost 20 pounds on my own and was weighing 246 and Doctor ...
I had already lost 20 pounds on my own and was weighing 246 and Doctor said, he would like to see another 20 gone before surgery. So I decided if I had to eat this way after surgery, I would start now, eating 5 times a day, 1 ounce of protein and 1/4 cup of fruit or veggies. I lost 30 more pounds before surgery, which happened on Oct. 29. Now a year later in August I was down a total of more then 100 pounds. I can not believe how fast this year has gone and how much better I feel. I want to thank Spark People for the tools, exercises they show you, the food diary, (That was a great help to start with, as what is a portion). Introducing you to people to help keep you on task and who know what you are going through. I feel successful and I thank you all for being a part of that.
Update: On Sept. 7, I saw the surgeon for the first real time since surgery. (I had been seeing his assistant) and he said. "You have done great." He checked the BMI status and I am now right in the middle of normal. He smiled and said, "You are prefect. You don't need to lose any more, concentrate on eating and being healthy." I made him repeat the prefect part as my son was sitting next to me. :) Thanks again for being a part of that.

Hi Lynn,

I saw you visited our Iowan challenge "Leaving 2010 a Looser." Just wanted to say Hi and hope you come back and share your great success with the rest of us who are struggling to lose weight.

You are truly an inspiration. I would like to add you as a spark friend if that is okay. Take care, my new spark friend. Julia

Hi lynn, how are things going? Any more problems with strictures. Last time I did was about a month ago. I seem to be doing better now. Looking forward to the holidays....and being with family.
