Finding Me..

For so many years now I have been struggling with weight loss and with finding the balance I need and can maintain. I have successes and I have setbacks, but nothing lasts longer than a month or two. So now I am changing tactics and making some changes.

So far this year I have started working out with a girlfriend of mine and she and I have really been helping each other push. We encourage each other to get our butts in the gym and when we do we BRING IT! This is the first change. ...

So far this year I have started working out with a girlfriend of mine and she and I have really been helping each other push. We encourage each other to get our butts in the gym and when we do we BRING IT! This is the first change. Actually having a workout buddy who shows up and is an amazing support has been a huge help in my gym habits. I am actually going fairly regularly and have made a new schedule to help.

The second change is that I have started taking a few yoga classes. I am hoping it will help me to find my center. It is physically good for me and hopefully will be mentally good for me as well.

The last change is only half a change, I suppose. My main focus has always been on the numbers on the scale, and, while I will still be tracking that and still have my weight goals, it is not going to be the main focus this year. I hope it will fall in line with the other changes I am making, but my main focus is going to be on permanent changes in my habits and really finding me. Finding the things I enjoy, like yoga, and can stick with for the rest of my life.

It is not only in my body/fitness world that I am searching for ME, but in every aspect of my life. I need to make positive changes in my life to get myself on the track I think I should/deserve to be on and turning my life into the amazing one I know it can be.

It has been a year, almost to the day, since I restarted SP. This past year I lost 30 lbs and have kept off 24 of them. I, of course, had visions of losing more, but a 24 loss is still awesome in my book!

I have decided to recommit myself once more. This year my goal is to lose another 24 lbs. I hope to lose more than that but life always has it's own plans. So, I will make my goals, do what I can, and just keep pushing. If I can at least do as well as last year then I figure I will be doing alright!

My first goal is to go from 222 lbs to 212 lbs by January 1, 2015.

I have had some successes and have also fallen down... a lot! I got down to 209.6 but essentially took off 3 weeks and am now back up to 217-219. It is well into spring and summer is coming. I am going to take advantage of the weather, get out, get moving and eat lighter.

I am taking on the yard work and have let my lawn guy go so this should be a great workout every week. I am also going to join a new gym. My gym let me know they were closing the DAY THEY CLOSED. Which was fine because I had stopped going. It was a tiny place and did not have any of the equipment I liked so I am going to a bigger place that even has a pool. I will get tons of pool time with the kiddo this summer but I would love to swim all year round!

I will also be using the grill a lot. Grilled chicken, potatoes, and corn are some of my favorite summer foods! Grilling can help keep things light and less comfort foody such as chili or spaghetti.

I am going to be setting more goals with both my weight loss journey and other areas of my life where I need to be more organized. I know that this summer I can get back on the horse and make the progress I want to make!

This is going to be an amazing summer!!

January was up and down for me. I got into a smaller pair of pants but then the last few weeks I have been struggling with staying on track.

This month I want to start again, focus, and get back on track. I need to stop this downward spiral now before it gets out of hand. I am down about 22 lbs since December 1, 2013 which is awesome but I still have a long journey ahead of me.

February is going to be about moving forward and making everything stick. I have a goal coming up (220 lbs by February 15) and there is a chance I will not make it. I am still trying and I am certainly close so it will not be a complete and terrible failure. It will not discourage me. I am still down from the first of the year so that is heading in the right direction. I just have to keep with it and keep moving forward.

I am starting out this new year on the right foot...for once. I am catching up with my studies and hope to be starting my new career in the next 6 months! But more so related to this site, I am actively working on my diet instead of just talking about it.

I know that there is still a week left to 2013 but as it stands right now I am only .6 lbs away from my January 1st goal. I am confident that I can make it and more importantly that I WILL make it.

Starting the new year off with my 1st goal reached, or at least close to it, puts me in a great position to keep rolling in the direction I am. I am feeling really good about this next year. I know there will be downs along with the ups but I don't feel like I am going to let them run me completely off course as easily as they have in the past. I know I can do this!

This year's weight loss goals:
-January 1, 2013: 230 lbs
-February 15, 2014: 220 lbs
-April 1, 2014: 210 lbs
-June 1, 2014: 199 lbs
-September 30, 2014 (My birthday): 175 lbs
-October 31, 2014: 170 lbs
-November 27, 2014: 165 lbs
-January 1, 2015: 155 lbs

If all goes well then I should be only 10-20 lbs away from my ultimate goal by the end of 2014. I KNOW I can do this. Even if the scale numbers may not be exactly what I hope for them to be I will be more than happy as long as I just keep making forward strides and getting closer to my goal.

This year is My New Beginning!

I have set smaller goals, reasonable goals. We are all well, knock on wood, so let's see if I can get on a roll and not let anything get in my way!

Goal: Lose 7 more lbs by January 1, 2014. That exactly 4 weeks from today. I can do it!!

I had been doing great but then my son and I got sick and I made some poor choices sooooo I gained back the weight I lost a few weeks ago and am at square one. Oh well! I am back on it today and will continue trekking along!

I have set a new goal for myself. I want to go from 236.4 to 222 (220 if I can) by Halloween. I have a costume I am working on and want to look my best in it. Its almost exactly 7 weeks away so that is about 2 lbs a week. Totally doable. Here is the general plan:

Gym 3-5 days a week

Walking/jogging @ the local park 3-5 days a week

As for my diet, I have always worked best while counting my calories, fat, and carbs so we are going to try it again.

Daily Calories: 1380-1730
Daily Fat: 31-67
Daily Carbs: 155-281

All the diet stats are per SP's suggestion.

So here goes nothin'!
