September 8th 2010: Throughout my childhood, teens and part of my twenties. I tried to please everyone without success. I was constantly compared to others. At 110 pounds I was told that I was fat, unattractive, and incapable of being successful anywhere in my life. When I realized my efforts would never be recognized I began to gain non stop and pregnancies aided me in my weight gain.
At the age of 58 yrs., I went through my Roueny Gastric Bypass surgery on September 21 of 2009. My weight loss outcomes have continued to be positive, Thankfully!
Now I am 60 years of age and still losing. I have lost 190 pounds since my surgery and 18 pounds since I joined this site. I have 37 pounds more to go till I reach my goal weight.
Though my loss of late has been slow it has atleast gone in the correct direction. Smile...
Before my surgery I was asked if I could lose 50 lbs. I managed to lose 60 pounds, plus I had lost 18.2lbs prior to my initial medical visit. When I walked into Dr. Alok Gandhi's office I weighed 356.8. My B/P was high and I had Sleep Apnea. Within a few months after my surgery these concerns had vanished with my weight loss. Within a few more months I began to drive again. I had not driven in 3 years. This inspired me to go forward as my freedom felt like a huge reward.
I am now 59 yrs., and a year and 3 months out from my Gastric Bypass surgery. I have lost 178 pounds and I am 5'4'' tall. I still have 48 lbs to lose. Determination to succeed will assist me in reaching my goals one pound at a time. I am trying to lose slowly as I want my weight to stay off. I have done short weight loss goals throughout my weight-loss program. Currently, I want to reach 160 lbs. After this goal has been reached, I will strive to reach 130 lbs, then level off and maintain this final goal wait. After years of being morbidly obese I finally see my weight loss journey being recognized by me. This alone is very empowering.
Certainly I have dry spells where my weight does not move. During this time I do not weigh. I fast one day every two months and this generally helps me jump start my weight loss again.
When I become discouraged for any reason I listen to Eckart Tollie's, "Power of Now" book on DVD. I find this to be extremely empowering in more ways than one.
I look forward to being a part of this site and gaining more skills that will help me through my weight loss journey and meeting new friends.

Work on the inside, as well as, Exercise, walk, practice Tai Chi Chuan, eat healthy, eat small servings, drink water, attend meetings and pay it forward.

My daughter, her husband and their three children live in the state of Oregon. My grandson's are in 8th and 9th grade and my granddaughter is 9 1/2. They are the apple of my eye.
I am retired. I am an Artist, connected to Spider Grandmother Spinner, Shamanic, Angel reader, sensitive, and Spiritualist.
My Grandfather's on my mother's side were all Celtic Shamans. I'm lesbian and proud.
I'm a Women's Studies graduate, gardener, cook, and a pet owner of two wee Yorky's. I enjoy and practice Tai Chi as my exercise regimen.

Truth is I am not that visual, and did not really see a need, until my Daughter said, "Popie Gramin and I have been worried about you and I think Little Bug needs to have you around for a while..."
I lost a pile of weight but did not notice a difference, until one day at the gym I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and did not know it was me.
All that being said, I am aware of changes now, at age 53 I was soaked from the effort to go to the basement and get a tool and return up stairs to use it.
At Age 55 I had V02Max testing done and scored in the top 10% of 2o year olds.
Last week in the 10km there was a woman running with her 3 month old strapped to her. She said, "I just hope I can pass at least one person."
I said, "I will start in front of you and you can go by me, so you will pass me. If you do not check your time, then if people ask how fast you did it, you can say,'I am not sure but I did pass a guy who finished in under an hour.'"
I was confident that I would be under an hour for a 10km.
So it has made many changes.
