My weight loss journey

Hello, my name is Lisa I am 36 years old and mom to four wonderful children. As of 2/2/08 my entire world fell apart when my husband passed away from lung cancer less than a week after his diagnosis. The past 2 years have been a struggle/journey for all of us and nagging at the back of my mind is the promise that my husband and made to each other when we were waiting for the results of his biopsy to come in, when we were both hoping that he would be ok. We promised each other that no matter what we would get healthy, he would quit smoking and I would lose weight and we would both take our health seriously. Well, he is no longer here but I know that I need to keep my promise to him because I am all that my kids have. So I am hoping that finding community support here will help me lose weight and at the same time give me a place to be to make friends so that I don't feel so alone.

Personal Information:
I live in Fargo, North Dakota, I do home daycare, I have four kids, 3 are still at home - ages:15, 10 & 5. My oldest is 18 and is at her first year of college.

I am going on 2 years as a widow, I am still working through the loss of his death as well as through other grief of things I found out about him after he died. In many ways the first year after his death I was mourning the loss of him and the second year I was mourning the loss of my marriage as I knew it. I find myself facing the third year after his death and I am really hoping to be done grieving and finally be at the stage of moving on.

Other Information:
I am still not sure what kind of music I enjoy, I used to hate country and then find myself listening to it quite a bit but it seemed to make me more sad and since I must be in what they call the "anger" stage of grieving I find myself leaning towards heavy metal/hard rock.

I spend way too much time on this computer, I like to garden in theory but I'm not too good at it, I also enjoy taking pictures, watching movies and spending time with my family.

Greetings Lisa!

I loved JeanEllen's wise words responding to your last blog:

"It is hard to stay on track.
It is hard to get back on track.
You CAN and WILL.
Looking back at off-track actions is good for learning, but try not to live in regret. Just move forward and focus on TODAY!!!"

We're talking THIS day...October 10, 2008! I have a quote from a *fellow* Weight Watcher that is pertinent here: "It's better to start at night than not at all!"

Hope to see you on the Gratitudes Topic focusing in on all that's RIGHT in your life:

Oh, and consider perusing my latest blog entry, "A Study in Gratitudes."

Sending Peace and Joy,
