December 2014 - Single-ingredient food zone!!

"Many things are simply not going to happen with just one, or three, or even a dozen attempts. Yet anything becomes possible with enough persistence.
Keep going, and allow your efforts to build upon one another. Keep going, and transform the disappointments into achievements.
You have what it takes to keep going, because all it ever takes is just one more step forward.
Keep going, and work your way steadily to the richest rewards you can imagine."

**** AT GOAL WEIGHT!!! 118 - July 26, 2011 Maintenance Begins...

Successful challenge! I went out to graduation looking and feeling my best, under 125lbs and ready for anything! I DID IT * I DID IT * YES!!

I have been overweight most of my life, except for several forays into fad diet land. Exercise was never part of the equation, nor was the notion of a truly healthy "lifestyle" until I joined Sparkpeople in 2008. I came to know and love the food tracker and really started to understand what makes up a good, balanced diet. I also joined in with regular exercise, though the food part seems to come a little easier for me when I am on a roll.

Then I hurt my knee and tests showed an unrelated but scary bone disease that had my orthopedist saying it's time for non-impact exercising only. Great, just when I was getting my groove on!

I got myself down from 173-171 to within 5 pounds of 133, my original goal that first year here, and let the diagnosis and other things totally derail me for far too long!!! With some retooling I am figuring out the magic Sparky formula to conquer the weight and fitness for GOOD!! I'm back to Sparky basics. Accountability is the order of the day - EVERY day! Open trackers that are getting populated with healthy choices and good, consistent exrcise. I am feeling SPARKY! WOO-HOO!! Who's with me? Here's to my Sparky accountability buddies and SparkPeople!

It's time to stay serious about my fitness and clean eating habits. Consistency, no matter what!

We're all in this together, we're all in this together.

My Goals:
I want to learn how to navigate maintenance. I need to stay focused on my short-term goals (am I drinking my water? have I exercised today? have I entered in my food each meal?), while keeping the long-term behavior- changing goals in sight.
I also want to be able to help others stay motivated and excited by participating on the message boards and making new SparkFriends!

My Program:
- Drink 10 glasses of water a day!
- Eat mostly clean, whole foods - TRY NEW VEGGIES!!
- Whole30/Eat to Live combo when it comes to my food intake!!! Lean protein, healthy Fats, loads of Vegetables!
- Exercise at least 15 minutes a day no matter what!
- Lift weights every other day!

Stopping by to say hello and see if you are as crazy busy as I am? I feel like I need to focus on the reason for Christmas and not feel overwhelmed with my to do list, but its hard emoticon How are you doing Melly? Your pictures on facebook looked like you got some baking in this weekend! We had my Dad and step Mom stay with us from Friday till today. No baking, but spent time together and that was nice. I made another trip to Midway airport...a record for me! I've been to either Midway or Ohare 3 times in the past couple of weeks...I am not a fan of Chicago traffic emoticon emoticon emoticon ...anyway I made it home, with a bit of a headache! Going to get ready for bed now. Hope you had a good weekend and that this week is a good one for you. How are you doing with clean eating? I need to get o a better track again tomorrow. emoticon

I am totally fine with writing to both of you on either page- I always check on both of you! I feel like you 2 ladies have helped me get through so much- I am so thankful! I love the pictures you guys post! Dash is adorable! So are Rosie and Lacie! Penny- our golden doodle is in heat so add keeping her and Jake separate for 21 days? That;s a long time. Poor Penny doesn't understand...

My sister never called my niece yesterday on her 30th birthday- so sad.

So let's keep drinking our water! 8 glasses today?

Hugs, Jan

Hello Melly! Saw your comments on Jan's page...we can keep in touch with each other easily this way!! Anyhow, I just want to say...step away from the sugar emoticon ..then you will be able to get on the track that works for you! I know its extra hard right now. My exercise routine has been challenged, and I have been feeling flu like, so I've missed some days, and had my share of treats. This holiday is different for me since I have lost 25 pounds from this time last year. I have to cut down on my treat eating and making...because when I make it, I want t eat it emoticon I'm trying to send the kids with the treats, or share them with friends/family. We have to come up with a new, healthier normal for us. emoticon We will still have a great holiday season without the extra cookies/fudge/etc. I'm also drinking alot less this year. I feel so much better than this time last year. I think you and Jan do as well! Let's not get totally derailed in the next few weeks! I am going to try to plan on fitting in my workouts in the morning, and eat a lot of salads and fruits. emoticon emoticon I saw your comments about Thanksgiving and your sons...I am sorry it wasn't quite what you had hoped it would be. I loved your pictures though, and your sisters dog reminds me of Rosie! Ok, off to bed...not feeling 100%...tomorrow is another day and let's make it a great one!
