About me, 2016:
On my way back down to healthy and fit!
I did it before, in 2011, dropping from 168 to 118 lbs through healthy eating and exercise and loving life. I had been laid off for the first time in my life and went back to college! I got a two-year health degree, graduating with flying colors. **EVERYTHING** I was doing was for me, to be my best. Life was very good.
I re-entered the workforce in March 2013 (software engineer), less than a month after my beloved dad died suddenly, and began sitting again.
I was working long hours, with more stress in my life, and sitting a lot.
I began spending every Thursday dinner and overnight with my mom.
I slowly, little-by-little, gave it ALL back. It's time to take up the reigns once again and take back my health, create new wins!
I know I can do this; I've done it before, it starts this year.
Here's to *** Getting Lean in 2016 ***

Starting in 2008, Hello Sparkpeople!! About me:
I have been overweight most of my life, except for several forays into fad diet land. Exercise was never part of the equation, nor was the notion of a truly healthy "lifestyle" until I joined Sparkpeople in 2008. I came to know and love the food tracker and really started to understand what makes up a good, balanced diet. I also joined in with regular exercise, though the food part seems to come a little easier for me when I am on a roll.
Then I hurt my knee and tests showed an unrelated but scary bone disease that had my orthopedist saying it's time for non-impact exercising only. Great, just when I was getting my groove on!
I got myself down from 173-171 to within 5 pounds of 133, my original goal that first year here, and let the diagnosis and other things totally derail me for far too long!!! With some retooling I am figuring out the magic Sparky formula to conquer the weight and fitness for GOOD!! I'm back to Sparky basics. Accountability is the order of the day - EVERY day! Open trackers that are getting populated with healthy choices and good, consistent exrcise. I am feeling SPARKY! WOO-HOO!! Who's with me? Here's to my Sparky accountability buddies and SparkPeople!
It's time to stay serious about my fitness and clean eating habits. Consistency, no matter what!
We're all in this together, we're all in this together.
I need to stay focused on my short-term goals (am I drinking my water? have I exercised today? have I entered in my food each meal?), while keeping the long-term behavior- changing goals in sight.
I also want to be able to help others stay motivated and excited by participating on the message boards and making new SparkFriends!
- Drink 10 glasses of water a day!
- Eat mostly clean, whole foods - TRY NEW VEGGIES!!
- Whole30/Eat to Live combo when it comes to my food intake!!! Lean protein, healthy Fats, loads of Vegetables!
- Exercise at least 15 minutes a day no matter what!
- Lift weights every other day!

Hello Melly!! I have not been a good sparker this summer! How are things going with you? We are getting closer to Patricks wedding, 3 weeks from Saturday. Not too much for me to do as the mother of the groom, although we are putting together a video of photos from Katie and Patrick growing up to show during the rehearsal dinner. I am going with Lindsey on Saturday to start looking for her wedding dress, they set their date for July 8 of next summer in Chicago. Since she is almost 32 and very much a planner, so I am not expecting to have to do as much for her wedding as I did for Anna's, although of course I will enjoy with helping in any way I can. We take Jacob to IU 3 days after Pat's wedding, and then we are empty nesters as the saying goes Actually Im not that sad, its just going to be very weird! We were only m,arried a little over a year when Lindsey was born. Just down to the 2 of us with Rosie is going to be interesting!
How are you doing with all of your goals here on SP? Im plugging away on my usual routine, but still would like to do better. Ha! The story of life I suppose I Look forward to hearing from you and how you're doing Melly!

Hello.....thanks for visiting my blog. I wanted to respond to your question about the book I am reading. I am reading a novel, "March." My Chapters, though are each 100 days of Accountability, so I am into my health and fitness journey now, for nearly 2200 days....goodness, me, one would think I would have reached goal weight long ago....except I am a very, very slow learner, darn it all. This October, I have 2 weddings a week apart (DS1 and DS3) so I have to get my weight down to fit into my dresses! I've dillydallied long enough.....now I have to be serious about the weight loss or I will be back out shopping again for different dresses. My Program centers around smart food choices: whole foods, lean proteins, fruits, vegs, minimal starches (125-150 grams daily), and staying under 1300 calories a day. I usually walk 25 miles weekly. This past week I increased my exercise intensity; I started interval training by walking 2 min, jogging 1 min for 60 minutes. It's very tiring for me at my age of almost 63 ... afterwards, I tend to fall asleep for a nap! What program are you doing?
Love your spark banner of flowers!
