It's been a long time since I've been on here. I lost 30 lbs back in 2008 & it was awesome. But shortly after that, my binge eating disorder reared it's ugly head even more so and fought me tooth an nail, shook my willpower reserves, and pummeled me into submission for 2 years. I recovered last year & wanted to drop weight for health reasons - no diets, just focusing on what my body really needs, not my mind or my heart. I've had a few bumps in the road - it's like when I start to control my eating, my subconscious sabotages me. Now I'm aware & I'm ready so, getting back into feeling good and not focusing on a number but how I feel will be a good thing. Hopefully, with all my gained knowledge & experience, I'll be able to ride over the waves of setback and persevere.

I'm the same, everytime something is being promoted by mainstream health and food companies I get suspicious. It's like the candy bars that are marshmellow, they say 99% fat free so everyone buys them, but they forgot to mention all the processed sugar!

I love your vegan food pyramid. Here in New Zealand our health ministry blindly adopted the american food pyramid as its healthy eating structure. Unfortunately everyone believes in it. We have a thing called the 'heart foundation tick' it's a tick given to certain foods by the heart foundation. To qualify for the 'tick' the foods have to be low in saturated fats and sodium but they don't look at the big issue so lots of people are busy eating trim milk and transfats and sugarfree stuff (sweetened with aspertame) cos it's got "the tick" - so it must be good for me.

Thanks for adding me as your friend. Check my photo gallery again some time this weekend. I should have some Wisconsin River pix from last weekend up. I think all the river pictures currently up are from the Sugar River which is much smaller than the Lower Wisconsin. We went canoe camping. Watched the moon move in and out of clouds for a good portion of the night. Then the moon set and the sky cleared and the stars came out. I want to do a multi-day trip but that will probably have to wait until next year.
