My name's Miriam and I am a foody. I love food and enjoy cooking tremendously. I also suffer from depression, which is running through my family and since I've been prescribed anti-depressants I've literally doubled in size. As a result my already low blood pressure has turned into an actual problem as it struggles to pump its way through my now significantly larger body, making it very hard to exercise without fainting. Not to mention that my general health is less than stable, I suffer from irritable bowl syndrome and regular migraines. I've never enjoyed exercising, so I guess the easy way would be to sit on my bum and point at my doctors when people tell me that I am getting less and less healthy. I don't want to do that though!

I want to be able to jog and have always dreamed of taking up a martial art. I love dancing and want to keep dancing. I have a pole at home and would love to be able to climb up and down that (or slither seductively if I will ever get any good :P). I want to keep up my flexibility. I also want to keep going for the sake of our lovely little pup Loki, who shouldn't be forced to sit on the sofa most of the day. Finally, I go to university in Oxford (the city of bicycles) and would love to be able to join in on the fun and use my cycle more instead of my car. Currently I faint and have to sit down after 10 minutes of cycling. I want to get better than that! I love the wind in my hair and the knowledge that I am not dependent on parking, traffic and fuel prices.

Sadly these grand plans combined with my perfectionism (making baby steps my natural enemy) do not mix well with my exceedingly dodgy health. However, for the sake of my overall well being, my dress size and may be even my energy levels, I have to overcome my perfectionism, keep going despite my health and do baby steps. So this journal is to watch me baby step my way to health!

On a none health related note: I am a geek, love table top RPGs, play World of Warcraft, enjoy music, sing badly, read and watch murder mysteries of all kinds, love all that is to do with Japanese culture (having lived there for a year) and follow E-Sports (SC2). I am currently doing my post-grad in Psychology, having finished my undergraduate in Computing and Japanese.

I saw your post in 220ville and I just wanted to offer some encouragement. :) Remember that you are #1. You are the only person responsible for your health so no matter what is going on in your life you just need to remember to give yourself some attention too! Keep up the exercise video's! You will soon find that you love and crave the strength that it brings you. Commit to atleast one video a day and drink lots of water! Drink a liter of water when you wake up in the morning to give your body a head start on releasing toxins. Also a lot of water flushes the fat out of our system, it is when we are lacking in water that our bodies hold onto fat. So water is very important. They say to drink 8 glasses a day for a normal weight person. And for every 25 pounds we are over weight add another glass. I went on anti depressants because I was depressed about my weight. Once they kicked in I stopped having the negative thoughts about failure and was able to more easily focus on myself. I enjoy watching video's on youtube, eating healthy videos , fitness videos , health videos, spiritual videos. They help me stay focused :) I hope that your mother is getting better, and I hope that you continue to focus on you. :) I am not in 220ville yet but I am hoping to be with my next weigh in!

Added you in the hope of more zombies, run updates in the future... 'Cause, that's probably the first thing I've ever seen that makes running sound like fun.
