I was one of those people that was 'skinny' most of her life. I could eat anything and not gain an ounce. So, when I hit 30 and the weight started piling on, I didn't know what the heck was going on.

I actually didn't mind the bit of poundage I put on. I had been underweight all my life, so this was fine with me. The problem was when it kept piling on.

The year I turned 40, I said this is ridiculous. Time to lose some weight. I started being more careful about what I ate, exercised a lot more with pleasing results.

I lost 40 pounds and was down to a weight I liked. I managed to keep it off for about 3 years, and the weight started piling on again.

So, back at it I go...more careful with what I was eating, started exercising more, but this's not working. I tried and tried. It took me 6 months to lose 5 pounds!

Somethings not right I think, so I upped the exercise. Mistake! My knees give out on me. Find out I have something called chondromalacia so I have to ease up on the exercise.

I tried other things but my body would rebel and say nope, you're not doing that! Having fibromyalgia makes it difficult to want to exercise. They say exercising is supposed to help it and once I force myself to do it, I know eventually I do start to feel better.

Finally after 18 months of going gungho and having only lost 16 pounds I decided to ask the doctor to do a blood test to check to see if I have a problem with my thyroid.

Blood tests come back and sure enough my thyroid is out of whack. The doctor was impressed that I lost anything!

I did get discouraged towards the end of that 18 months after trying so hard and only losing 16 pounds. So, I stopped trying, I stopped exercising. Guess what happened?
Yup, gained the 16 pounds I lost back, and lots more.

So glad I've found Sparkpeople! There is so much information on this site. I'm sure it will help me reach my goals.

1.To lose 1 or 2 pounds per week.
2. Drink more water.
3. Eat more veggies
4. Do at least 10 minutes of exercise per day. (starting slow)
5.I would like to be down 15-20 pounds by Apr. 2017

4. Posting on community forums for support and accountability.
5. Encouraging others :)

I have an awesome cat named Oscar.

Other Information:
I'm learning to not be so critical of myself. It's not an easy thing to change. Let's say it's a work in progress :)
