Hi! I have a number of reasons for wanting to - finally - get serious about reducing my weight. Some are "internal", some are "external". For example, I KNOW my overall health will improve, and both blood pressure and cholesterol will come down as the pounds go; and, I look forward to being able to chase my new grandson around, and climb 19 flights of stairs when I visit Haifa next year, without collapsing after either activity!
I refer to myself as "short and sweet". Well, I can't do much about my height, but I can definitely tackle the sweetness! I'll try not to turn sour as I go through this process, though, because whatever steps I take, whatever progress I make, IT'S ALL GOOD!
My main goals are to improve my health and enhance my quality of life, both through conscious eating and through exercise. Eventually I would like to lose 100 pounds, but for now, I'll aim for 50.
I believe in taking a long view, so:
I'm starting with increasing water, and tracking calories and food choices daily.
Once I am consistent with that, I will add regular measurable exercise (walking, Curves, and the gym). For fun, I'll add dancing, and eventually running (I'm a runner in my fantasies!)
I'm originally from Virginia, but have lived in Wisconsin since 1977. I have two grown children (one teaching English in China, the other in banking and about to have my first grandchild!) I'm happy that my former husband and I are still close (not everyone can do that), and I have an amazing support network and extended "family". Life is good.
I'm between jobs , which is a bit scary at my age and weight. But, I'm also optimistic :-)
