NANCYJAC is a SparkPeople Motivator!
I've been a Spark member since the end of 2005 and during that time I have lost over 130 pounds. More importantly, I have improved my eating and exercise habits for the rest of my life!
My primary goal has been to get my health back. In 2004 I started suffering from extreme fatigue, got sick all the time, and was rapidly gaining weight for no apparent reason and reached a high weight of 287. In March 2005 I was diagnosed with Auto-immune Thyroiditis, but it still took several more month of medication before there was any improvement in symptoms. Between the meds and the improved eating and exercise habits I have learned at Spark, I have my health back and now feel better and have more energy than I've had in years.
I had maintained at my goal weight for about 4 years. Then I was diagnosed with cancer. Between forced inactivity, medications, and quitting smoking, I've gained about 30-40 pounds back that I don't need. So I am back here at Spark People to take it off again.
1. Continue improving overall fitness.
2. Improve metabolic function.
3. Increase bone strength and density.
4. Increase muscle strength and endurance.
5. Improve posture, balance, and coordination.
My current program is to continue eating well and exercising consistantly for the rest of my life.
Continue nutritionally dense eating.
Continue cycling, running, Pilates, yoga, and Zumba.
I am 64 and I live just outside of Austin, Texas with my husband.
Since restoring my own health, I have become a wellness coach and fitness trainer.

Thank you Sam. I consider that to be just about the highest compliment I could be paid. I am not one to say whatever people want to hear, but rather what is useful. That gets me into a bit of hot water from time to time, but I have no intention of changing my ways :-)
Thanks for your comment.

Nancy, how I love the one line in your signature!
" Motivation without information is useless."
Your journey and success are proof that you embrace this, and your achievements here inspire me incredibly! Thank you so much for the focus you give in the Team Leaders forums; staying the course is what gave you success and I love to see how that focus nurtures others!

Good Morning, I just read your comment on the Run/Walk blog and when I realized your age I just had to check out your page. I am 64 years (of knowledge and wisdom) so I am always happy to come across people closer to my age range. I think it is awesome that you went from where your WERE health and weight wise to being an instructor in fitness and health. I would look at that as reaching an ultimate goal in life!! You have done and are doing a fantastic job and I am very impressed by your success. My blessings to you for continued good health and fitness and for the knowledge and endurance to teach others the healthy lifestyle. Chargail
