Journey to the Land of Fitness

I am a Special Education teacher who has been in a number of car accidents, one resulting in a neck injury requiring surgery. While I am (mostly) recovered, I have a desire to lose weight and get fit. I have begun working out with a friend who is a personal trainer. He is guiding me on this journey....

My Goals:
1. Lose weight (this goal leads to all other goals)
2. Get fit. (this also leads to all other goals)
3. Control my diabetes naturally (I hate my meds!)
4. I realized on Wednesday 3/5/08: "I can make exuses or I can make changes." I decided it would be "make changes!"

My Program:
1. Spark People
2. I have joined my school's "Biggest Loser Club"
3. Weight Watchers
4. A friend who is a personal trainer is helping me.

Personal Information:
I was born in Wisconsin, raised in Iowa, moved to Long Island @ 19 to be a nanny (that summer lasted 17 years!) and now I reside in Phoenix, AZ.

Other Information:
I have been to Israel, Scotland, and the Netherlands. I would like to go on a cruise to Alaska, visit Ireland, and take a long vacation, maybe even work, in Australia.

Welcome to SP. It's a great site! Be sure and sign up for Spark America and when you set up your exercises, just remove any you can't do or don't want and put in those you do. Be sure and schedule a day for cardio so you have access to the "other exercises" page where the walking, housework, playing with children etc. are to be found. When you are done, set up your Appointment calendar to send you reminders and when they come, click on the link then fitness and just check them off as you do them. Such a great feature. Use your spark points page to help you use and learn all the fantastic tools we have at this site. Visit others pages and get to know them better. Again, welcome to a great site.
