Eating Clean and lean...
I began my diet journey in the fall of 2005. I hid behind the fat girl persona - making jokes about it like I didn't care. Then I saw myself in a photograph and I barely recognized myself. There was no way I had gotten that big! I know they say the camera adds 10 pounds, but this was closer to 50. That's when I made the choice to do something about it. When I finally got up the courage to step on the scale, my starting weight was 255. I lost 50 pounds with Weight Watchers, but soon fizzled out ...
I lost 50 pounds with Weight Watchers, but soon fizzled out with the counting and meetings. I quit going and promptly gained almost 30 pounds back and realized that if I wanted to change my body I was going to have to change my lifestyle. The first thing I did after my epiphany was to say good-bye to fad diets – they simply don’t work. Americans spend billions of dollars every year trying to find a quick fix that doesn’t exist. The only thing that does work is committing to healthy eating habits and a regular exercise program. You really have to want to change your life, make a plan to accomplish that change, and most importantly STICK TO IT! To date I have lost and kept off 60 pounds (from my original starting weight) – I am actually under 200 pounds for the first time in ten years! When I saw that number on the scale I almost cried. So now I just need to get the last 35 pounds off in order to reach my goal. Sounds easy, right! Changing my bad habits is a daily challenge, but I have a great group of friends and family that are all doing this with me and I know for a fact that I would be creeping up on 300 pounds by now if it weren't for them. One of these great people turned me on to The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. I LOVE IT! I get to eat 6 times a day and have never felt better. Now I am looking forward to getting to goal!
