Hi my name is Melissa and I live in Missouri.

UPDATE 9/5/12
It has been 2 years since my original journey began here. There have been many "side trips" down the bad habit highway. I still continue to struggle with my weight and my blood sugar. I am still lucky enough not to have to start taking insulin at this time. But that could be the next step, if I don't get into gear. My nephew has set a date for his wedding and that is giving me something to work toward. 10/12/13 is the date. 57 weeks. I want to lose 57 pounds by the wedding. That will put me at my personal goal weight. It will be a challenge, but it is one that I am ready to take on. So....here I go!!!

UPDATE 9/11/11
Life has been hectic and work has taken way too much of my time lately. I have not been taking care of me. That has got to change. I have been pretty much at a status quo....losing and gaining the same 5 pounds. That is not what needs to be done. I have to get off at least 20 pounds by the end of the year. Time to get out of the bubble and rejoin LIFE!!!


UPDATE 12/27/10.....
So far I have a had a few detours, but they all brought me right back to here. The next leg of my journey starts now. Today. I have gotten off to a good start, but I still have a distance to go. I am not out of the woods, but I have chosen a path to follow and it is here at Spark. What more could I ask for....info, support and friends. Welcome to my journey.

ORIGINAL INTRO 8/26/10
I have always been heavy even as a child. Through the years, I have lost/gained weight over and over again. But as I look back, it has always been for an occasion, trip or to impress another person. For the past couple of years, my weight has been bouncing back and forth with the same 10 pounds. I thought that is where my body was happy and I should just deal with it. But I am not comfortable at this weight. I need to do this for my health. I have had tons of EXCUSES for not losing in the past. But enough is enough. The JOURNEY begins today. Here we go.

Doctor not happy with me, I am not happy with me..time to get my head out of the sand and get with the program. 57 weeks to get there.

1/2 - It is time for change. I have allowed myself to fall off the wagon and eat poorly the past month with family and friends and JUST BECAUSE. I have tried to please others and in the process lost my focus on me. Not any more. I am going to take control of my life.
