Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
I am a privileged college student who needs to realize that a) she's not perfect, b) she needs to remember all she's been given and c) perfection, though unattainable, is still worth striving for.
I'd like to lose 32 pounds. Two years ago, I weighed 120 and I felt great. I hope (no, I WILL :) ) be done by March 10, 2012. I am in great shape cardio-wise, but not strength training-wise. I plan to change that. I want to be able to do a pull-up by March! I also don't want to be addicted to junk food. I don't even really like it that much; it just serves as an emotional refuge. After this semester's over I want to learn some yoga - I've been wanting to for some time.
I will be burning 1000 calories a day through exercise and calorie restriction.

I'm a graduate student obtaining her Masters in Public Policy. I want to work in education law, preferably at the federal level, so law school is next on my agenda. I love to read, write poetry, learn new languages, run, hike, and bird watch. My biggest challenge is getting over my fear of the future - of not being strong or smart enough to reach my goals. I have extremely supportive family members, mentors, and friends, so that's not the problem. I am the problem, and now's the time to solve it.

I was reading your page and it reminded me when I was earning my master's degree. Here's what I had taped to my bathroom mirror during those years:
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool;
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental;
To reach out for another is to risk involvement;
To expose feeling is to risk exposing your true self.
To place your ideas and your dreams
before the crowd is to risk their loss;
To love is to risk not being loved in return;
To live is to risk dying;
To hope is to risk despair;
To try is to risk failure.
But risk must be taken,
because the greatest hazard in life
is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing, does nothing,
has nothing and is nothing;
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they simply cannot learn,
feel change, grow, love, live.
Chained by their certitude, they are a slave;
they have forfeited freedom;
Only the person who risks is free.
