Sick of being over-weight by about 80 lbs, I've decided to change my life around, start eating right, and exercising regularly. I also plan to stop smoking this year before July. This page is to serve more-or-less as my diary of progress in this venture. =============== Just an update to my overall introductory text .. It's now 4/25/10. I originally started this whole venture on Feb 15th, and finally found SP on 3/9. So far, I am LOVING how I feel. I've stayed pretty well spot-on with my nutrition, and I've been doing at least all my required cardio (if not doubling it some weeks). On Feb 15th - I weighed 268 lbs. This morning - the scale told me I was down to 227. That's 41 lbs folks! All in about 10 weeks! My official weigh-in is Tuesday, but I wanted a peek after my super-long bike ride yesterday. :) I also readjusted my goals for weight loss. Since I'm going to easily make 215 well before 7/18 - I changed it up to make 185 by Nov. 1st. I think that's reasonable! I've been having so much fun when it comes to cardio. I challenge myself, set mini-goals, shatter them, and up the ante. I've been so impressed with what my body has been capable of doing ... and watching its abilities increase as I become more fit. I stared in disbelief at the dam at Hagg Lake yesterday which marked the completion of a lap around the lake. It went by so quick that I didn't even expect it. When I weigh in officially on Tuesday, if that number is still in the 220s, I will be kicking the cigarettes out the door. I'm going to try completely cold-turkey .. I can't keep giving my body nicotine in any form. I will, however, keep some nicorette gum lying around if I feel I'm about to bite someone's head off. Here's to everything that SP has helped me accomplish. This site has been an INVALUABLE tool in propelling my fitness to a new level - likely one that I've not seen in this lifetime yet. I plan on shattering my 7/18 goal by 6/1, and setting a new goal for myself to get down to 185 and build some good muscle. Thanks SO MUCH for this website. It has made the hell of tracking and planning soooo much more manageable. ===========Update Aug 2016 ++++ Well over the course of 2012 - 2016 my life has been a difficult rollercoaster. Lots of extreme highs and lows have taken their toll and I gained back almost 60 of the 80lbs I lost here on SP initially.... and I'm finding myself tired of it once again. So - it's time! I've had about 5 false starts over the past 4 years, but you know what they say - the 6th time's a charm! LOL. One positive thing to note - since I quit smoking on 4/27/2010, I've not touched tobacco since! Smoke-free for 6+ years!

My Goals:
My simple goal is to lose some weight.

In that realm, I would like to get down to 215 lbs by mid-July.

I genuinely want to lead a healthier lifestyle - the healthiest I've ever been. I'd like to have more energy, look better, and have better stamina when it comes to things like sports and motorcycles. Eventually I would like to start doing things I've never even considered doing before - like racing bikes. In a sport where people are trying to shave ounces off their motorcycles to make faster lap-times, there's no way I could ever compete with an extra 50lbs hanging off my bones.

So far this journey has been amazing, and I'm nothing short of THRILLED to have made the decision to go for it!

My Program:
I'm watching and tracking what I eat very carefully. I'm also doing a good amount of cardio - 60-90 minutes per day at least 5 days a week.

At this point, the food tracking has become habit and is much easier than it was initially. It has also been key to my weight loss. Without knowing exactly what's going in - I might as well be a ship without a rudder. Since I've been tracking - it has been SO EASY to make the proper decisions to ensure that I head the right direction toward my goals. Tracking is boring - but it gives you the power of information.

My name is Sean, and I'm 34 years old and live in Oregon - where it constantly rains and rains and rains and rains and rains! Yes - I'm clinically insane. :)

Other Information:
I'm a motorcycle zealot and ride sport bikes. I have a couple Honda CBRs in my stable (600 F4i and 1000RR). Losing the weight I've packed on over the last few years will improve my riding ability immensely.

    I'm doing pretty good.I have been a bit of a slacker too.Haha.I've just started being consistent in logging my food and trying to get some exercise in the last couple of weeks.I've lost a few lbs and am feeling pretty good... Just need to focus and stick to it come hell or high water!
