If at first you don't succeed...

Hello! My name is Matt. On December 15, 2011, I made a decisions to give myself the gift of a better life. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I committed myself to a 53 week transition to a healthier, leaner me. My goal is to lose 108 pounds in 53 weeks so that by Christmas 2012, I can give myself a new version of me within a healthy BMI range. Wish me luck!

Hello again. It is now November 5, 2012. I did very well until mid-April when I started to plateau and lose interest in the journey. Today I weigh 7 pounds less than I did last year. I was down 30 pounds at one point, but have gained most of it back. Once again, I am tired of being fat. This time, I will break up my journey into smaller, frequent goals. I hope that this will help create a sense of accomplishment rather than failure.

Here we go again. It is November 5, 2014. Notice a theme? Last spring I moved to a new part of the state and took a new job. Over the summer, I started running with some new friends and found myself in great shape at the beginning of the cold season. I have never felt so energized and fit. My weight was down, though not to my goal, but I was never out of breathe, rarely tired, and had such motivation to succeed. Then it got cold. Really cold and very snowy. We spent the next several months indoors and work became incredibly busy. I gained back about 22 pounds, but it wasn't the weight that was a concern as much as the fat. I jumped back up several sizes and found myself out of shape again in no time. Now, a year later, I am tired, sweaty, and sick of being on this roller coaster. When I quit smoking, it took me several tries before it stuck. I guess fitness is the same. Maybe this will be the time it sticks.

Still working on this. I own an elliptical and a Wii Fit, both of which have been good to me in the past. I also have a membership to a gym which I have never used. Perhaps it is time again.
