WHY???!!! Are The Last 20 LBS SO HARD?

Hey all!

I have been struggling with eating disorders for the last 5-6 years, being both very underweight (97 lbs at 5'4") and overweight (my current: 185). i am worried about hitting the 200lb mark, and really don't want to get there. I need support to heal from my eating issues, and I'm hoping to find others who have gone through similar things. Message me and let's talk!

UPDATE: As of November 2009, I've dropped 30+ lbs, in part due to The Spark. I have reduced eating disorder behavior significantly, and I have begun teaching a regular yoga class. I also have a fabulous, supportive boyfriend! Life is all about ups and downs, and for me those ups and downs are reflected in my weight. I'm committed to getting to goal weight once again, in a HEALTHY WAY THIS TIME!!

Update October 29, 2011: I am now back to my starting weight, before all of this eating disorder stuff came into play. Half of me finds that very depressing, while half of me celebrates my triumph over disordered eating, one day at a time. I am way less obsessed with body image, and I have a lot of beautiful things/people/opportunities in my life. I would still like to get to goal weight, but I have my whole life ahead of me to do that.

I have started tracking my food again on Sparkpeople to hold myself accountable...I will see if it aggravates my eating disorder or helps me move forward...

Also, I am refocusing on my yoga and teaching practice. Yoga has helped me come back into my body, and teaching is helping me love my body even more!

Quoted from a fellow sparker's page:

"Lean not on your own understanding, but in ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path".

"When I find myself scratching my head due to lack of progress, I remind myself that God is RE-Sculpting me and that takes time."

Lord, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
the courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference

Hey lady! Thanks for checking up on me! I'm doing alright, just working on getting rid of this little cold I have. I think it will be gone by tomorrow. I'm going to go do a light workout at the gym and see if I can burn up some of those germs! How are you doing? I'm just trying to stay focused on my tiny steps and to not look ahead to far. One healthy choice at a time! I think I might even get my mat out today, take it outside onto the porch in the sunshine and do 5 minutes of asana...if it turns into more, great, but at least 5 minutes. My life works so much better with yoga in it and I need to take action. I hope you have a great weekend! emoticon

No, I'm not gluten-free, but I know several people who have to be because of Celiac's and several because of different factors. It's definitely a difficult lifestyle, so I wish you luck!

Thank you for your understanding comment! emoticon
I am also in recovery from an eating disorder. ED + OCD = disaster! Anyway, the eating issues are pretty much resolved, but there is always some residue. I haven't checked out OA. I tend to not eat enough and work out too hard and then gain weight. But that was in the PAST! Now, I'm doing it the right way and I'm loving it so far! Thanks for stopping by my page. I hope we can be in communication! Beautiful profile pic btw! emoticon

Thank you so much for your comment on my page, I am happy you were inspired by my writing on my page. Hope to be a support and encouragement for you. Please reach out to me anytime, I too have struggles with "Mr. Ed" for many years, I have overcome them except now the obvious weight gain. God Bless you, my sweet and beautiful sister. emoticon

For cooking classes, go to the PMRC website and see if they offer anything where you are. That is what we took. Then we just bought a lot of cookbooks and kept right on going.
