My Journey
I'm 27 years old... Got my BA in Liberal Studies in 2009 and as of May 2012, I have my preliminary Multiple Subject teaching credential with supplementary authorizations in English and Social Studies. I've always been overweight or at least as long as I can remember. I think it was around the start of puberty and looking back its sad to think that I was probably ashamed of it since I hid in big t-shirts and bike shorts. I take credit for being unhealthy later in life, but my parents ...
I take credit for being unhealthy later in life, but my parents didn't exactly give me a good foundation... After many failed attempts or rather quiting before I got to my ultimate goal, this time is different. I'm tired of feeling like my weight makes me unattractive and for so long people told me if only you lost 20lbs, then you'd be gorgeous. So now i finally want to lose the last bit of weight! It will be a tough journey, but I hope by the time I reach my goal that I will new person inside and out! My highest weight was in the 170s and would have kept going if I didn't move away to finish school...I had control over what food was available to me and so I got down to the high 150s in a semester! Since then I've had a few lame attempts at losing the rest, but now I want to stick with it. There's no big event as to why I finally am doing it...I think that since I have nothing else going on taking all my time, why not finally lose the rest of my weight! I started the year weighing 146.2 , but started the shred weighing 144.2. I'm not entirely sure what my goal weight is, but I think its somewhere between 125 and 130. Oh and I'm 5ft 4ish... I'm not counting calories, but watching what I eat and trying to make the best choices for myself. I started with Jillian Michael's 30 day shred(4/19/2010) and have now moved on to her 30 day slimdown. I've found a passion for running...thanks mostly to the Couch to 5k program, which I've repeated a few times in the past. I started it again in May 2012, graduated and am now working through the Bridge to 10k program. My ultimate goal is to run a marathon before i turn 30... with a couple shorter distance races before that. its such a weird concept that I now enjoy running because mile days in PE were such a miserable experience for me! Every PE coach basically just told me to run and I tried so hard, but could almost never make the required time.
