Trying to be a healthier me.

Hello to all you Sparkers. This is certainly the place to start changing your lifestyle. I joined SP on January 15. From start to my main goal I have a total of 31 pounds to lose. I grew up in a family that always over ate. My mom is obese and my dad is morbidly obese. WhenI joined SP I was at my heaviest...161 pounds...except when I was pregnant and went from 120 to 180. Hello to all you Sparkers. This is certainly the place to start changing your lifestyle. I joined SP on January 15. From start to my main goal I have a total of 31 pounds to lose. I grew up in a family that always over ate. My mom is obese and my dad is morbidly obese. WhenI joined SP I was at my heaviest...161 pounds...except when I was pregnant and went from 120 to 180. I have tried the pill and they just don't work. I have wasted so much money hoping to find a quick fix. I also have tried to journal my foods but it was so much work to do it by hand so I gave up. I refused to go to Weight Watchers, LA Weightloss, or any of those other groups that you pay to go to. I have friends who are going to LA Weightloss and doing great with it but those things are just too much. I also thought NutriSystem cost too much plus it doesn't teach you a new way to eat so you are too likely to gain it all back when you stop eating their meals. I know I can do it on my own but I have to have a huge motivator...such as my trip to Jamaica. I lost 10 pounds for that but it took me from March till September to lose that weight. In a month I have lost 8 pounds with SP's help...to lose that last time it took me almost 6 months! I think one of the biggest helps is the food tracker here...makes it so easy to see in a glance where I am at on calories, carbs, and other things I am tracking. It is also so easy to see if I'm sticking close to the proper carbs, proteins, fats ratio. My other motivator is the SparkPoints....I love computer games and I see the points as a game so I am reading and tracking and talking to others just to earn those points. We each have to find what motivates us and I believe that SparkPeople has something for everyone. I also love the fact that you are not told this is the only thing you may eat...you can follow their meal suggestions or you can do your own. I really love how supportive everyone here is...you are never alone...if you get off trail we are here for each other so you can refind the trail. It's great to be able to admit your downfalls without people being judgemental. Thank you SparkGuy for giving so much to society you deserve the Man of the Year Award for caring about people.

Well, last year I lost 20 pounds then I got distracted...went back to working, and stopped tracking my food and even slacked on exercising and gained 10 pounds back, I am back and determined to reach my goal and stay there. I know where I went wrong and am going to fix that. I started overdoing a lot of things and just got overwhelmed by everything and stopped. I am not going to let that happen this time.

It’s wonderful your partner is losing weight with you. My husband is getting real close to joining me. If I can have him exercise a few times a week with me I will be happy.
