Howdy, Ms. Lisa!

Yeah, I haven't been around for a long while, either. I fell off the wagon hard, and even though I trained for a completed a 1/2 marathon (slow jog/walk, not actually running), I haven't yet gotten myself into shape. (I had that ridiculous thought that because I'm exercising so much training, I can eat more. Duh.) I have started doing a lot more, for instance I finally bought a Wii and a couple extra games (dance and fit), and I get off the bus earlier on my way to work so I have farther to walk. I'm already feeling better, but I know I have a long way to go.

The sad/bad part is that I just don't have the inclination anymore to some on and post on Spark. I don't know why. Maybe thinking I have to do it all, food and exercise and blog and join a group. It's just kind of overwhelming. Maybe if I just do one thing, like logging food, I'll be okay. The Wii fit keeps track of the exercise I do on that, and I can actually input other stuff (although I haven't figured out how yet), so I would be doubling the effort there if I logged info here.

And I hate to admit it, but sometimes it's hard supporting everyone else when you aren't even doing well yourself. I'm a pretty supportive person, but it started to drag me down, took a lot of my energy and I had none left for me. I know that sounds kind of selfish, but I truly think that, if it doesn't directly affect anyone else (in other words, doesn't keep someone else from doing something they can do, or actually physically damages them), sometimes one does need to be selfish.

I hope that the new diet you picked up is treating you well! How are the hubby, kids and candle business? Hey, I just realized, I was up in your 'hood a few weeks ago. In Davis. One of our former attorneys moved up there, and he had a house-warming. It was really quite nice.

Okay, that's all I got for now, but I would like to keep in touch.

Hugs back atchya,
Chloe

Howdy, Lisa!

How's everyone doing? How's the FNP program coming along for DH? I hope well.

And Tisha and Junior? Are they enjoying the summer so far? Are you girls still hitting the gym regularly? I know there was a hottie there you enjoyed visiting ;-).

Let me know how things are going for you, especially this latest BLC.

Take good care,
Chloe

Ms. Lisa!

I'm so glad you are still here, and are doing the challenge again! And glad to hear your hubby is doing fairly well. I know it's hard to stay motiviated when it's slow going, but that really is the best way, so good for him for sticking to it! Woohoo! (BTW, what is the FNP program?)

As for you, my friend, I LOVE the fact that you don't stop! You have this great power of not giving up, and that is WONDERFUL! A lot like me, as I put on a few over the time away from Spark, but I'm not ready to give up, either. Once a person gives up, that's it. But as long as we stay in the fight, we have the chance to win, right? So, I'm back, and ready to go another 10 rounds.

As for work, yes, luckily I still have job. Of course, I'm always grateful to have a job, whether the economy is bad or good. They did have more layoffs just last week, as a mater of fact. Quite scary, but no more gone from our department. We were already stripped to the bare minimum. I don't know if I told you, but we did have a meeting in March (I'm guessing I haven't told you, because I haven't been around), but we are ALL feeling the effects, even if we're still here. All staff has to take a mandatory furlough day each month, which is both good and bad. It sucks because, of course, it means about $100 or so less a month (had to lower my 401(k) contribution to help make up for it), but it's great because I get an extra day off every month.

In addition, no raises, no bonuses this year.

As for directors, they're all putting money back into the firm and giving up (or at least delaying payment) of their year end bonuses and something else, but I can't remeber what. And the associates are giving up (I think) 10% of their salary. They are also not being stepped up in their practice level. So, if they would normally have become a 3rd year associate, they're remaining a 2nd year associate. At least as far as paygrade is concerned. I'm not sure about actual reflection on their status, so to speak.

Anyway, yes, still scary, but they say the firm is NOT going down, that we're still healthy. We borrowed less money from the banks than usual, which is great, and will have paid them off sooner than usual, which is also great.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens now.

But, I have updated my resume, just in case. Can't hurt, right?

Take care, my dear, and I will talk with you soon!
Chloe
