Lessons Learned in Five SP Years

On 1/27/2008, I joined the Spark family and now 3 years later, I am still here and as active as ever. So what have I learned? Here is the short list:

* Before snacking, H.A.L.T. - Am I Hurting? Angry? Lonely? Tired/Thirsty?
* By sharing what I have learned, I help myself, as well as, others
* It is not selfish to take time for me
* Exercise can be fun (did I really say that?!?!?!? LOL)
* Being proactive and planning ahead is one secret to success
* ...

* Seeking help/support is not a weakness but a sign of maturity
* Sometimes the best thing I can do for myself is to say NO
* Each day needs to have some quiet time built in
* Do not dwell on mistakes, but learn from them and move on
* Setbacks are NOT a excuse to give up, but a reason to begin anew
* It is important to stay connected with my SPals and SP teams

* We have been married 25+ years and would do it again in a heartbeat.

* We are loving our new rescue puppy. She's a Lab/German shorthaired pointer mix.

Just joining today, saw your page, was happy to see that you are a christian too. I am 70 Had some health issues & was overweight before and now after sitting a lot for 2 plus years have reached 244 lbs, seems I want to eat all the time and then read or watch TV, I need a lifestyle change for sure, & your an inspiration. Keep it up. Doloris

Hi MJ... no, not getting sick, just that a lower carb diet makes me feel more satiated, but some of it is also that I didn't have the right foods to eat and I don't want to eat the wrong thing. I'll get it right!... today I will do some batch cooking and this week I will be on point!... other than that, I feel great!

For your question what is "spicy cracklin"... have you ever heard of pork rinds... well if so, this is what I am referring to. I like them for a snack because they are all protein. Here is a link to how they look; pork rinds ='s fried or baked pork skin.
