Over the past few years, I've encountered stumbling blocks on my weight-loss journey, but my Spark buddies have kept me motivated through the thick and thin.
For the past two years, a long commute prevented me from exercising or planning meals to the extent that I need to in order to lose (or even maintain) weight. Now I am working close to home and am seeing progress toward my health goals again.
My current routine means making a DAILY choice to eat well and to exercise. I know only too well that "just one day" is a slippery slope for me, just like "just one drink" is to a recovering alcoholic.
To have more energy and reduce unhealthy fat.
To fix my cholesterol levels without medication.
To be patient and energetic all the time so I can inspire my students.
Yoga every morning.
Gym at least 5 times a week -- exercise at least 10 minutes a day.
Watch calories - especially fat calories and make sure I eat enough protein.
Water, water and more water!
Avoid sodium - it makes me LAZY!

Good morning (almost afternoon) and hope this finds you smiling and full of energy today!
I hear you on the cook books, I don't cook with salt anymore BUT I love having herbs added to them. And things that growing up like casseroles, I now am trying to bring back into our meals as well as crock pot cooking We also try to avoid fried foods.
But I DO love the old cook books! What drives me nuts is that we have a ceramic stove to cook on, so you can imagine I have to have special pans to use on them then. (thanks to a cheap land lord that replaced our old gas ones...)
Nothing like home cooked meals though. I'll never get used to prepared ones. They just lose the flavor that I'm used to I guess.
