Took my first step toward a healthier life on January 12, 2012. I am currently living in Western Pennsylvania. In the summer, I am an avid gardener, and grow and preserve much of our own food. A retired floral designer, I also love creative pursuits of all kinds; knitting, crochet, painting, and of course flowers. I live with my Dear Husband and miniature poodle, and have a disabled adopted daughter who spends much time with us. God is good, and I am grateful for His provision and care over our lives.
With 100 pounds to lose, I am in this for the long haul. My short-term goal is 10% of my body weight. I want to get to where I can exercise more. I have severe osteoarthritis, and have had numerous joint replacements and back surgery. Since the back surgery a year ago, I have had difficulty regaining my stamina and "get up and go". I hope to find it again. My husband is a newly-diagnosed diabetic, and I am borderline. I hope to avoid that diagnosis myself, and to help my husband eat a healthy diet.
I am following the SP recommendations for calorie intake and carb, protien and fat levels, as well as water. I track my food, journal daily, and take part in team discussions and try to be an encouragement to the community here.
From Western Pennsylvania, I am married with poodle. We have three sons, an "adopted" adult daughter with disabilities, and three grandsons. With the exception of DD, the kids are spread down the east coast, so we do a fiar bit of travel to see them. We are active in our church and community, and hope to be a blessing to those who know us.
