I'm a 40-something year-old professional with a wonderful, active family! I work 32 hours a week in a sedentary desk job, but when I'm home, I have a wonderful husband and 4 lovable, crazy kids under the age of 13 to keep up with!

Obesity, diabetes, and heart disease run in my family, and I'm trying to make the best of my heath while I'm young enough to make a difference! I'm stubborn, and also extremely once I've messed up on a diet in the past, I've given up! I have a lot to work on on keeping up this heathly lifestyle for the long haul!

Fitness Minutes: 1,557

My Goals:
(1) Compete in my 1st 5k.

(2) Eat within my recommended calorie and fat ranges at least 6 days per week.

(3) lose 50 pounds by Dec 31.

(4) Drink 6 glasses of water per day.

(5) Eat 5 - 7 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.

My Program:
(1) C25k training.

(2) Kick boxing class 2x per week.

(3) tracking on SP.

(4) choosing more fruits and vegetables, and less refined sugar.

(5) Pilates or yoga once per week.

Personal Information:
I'm a very happily married 44-year old from the Deep South. I've lived here all my life and love it--well, except for the excessive heat in the summer! My husband and I love to travel when we can squeeze in 2 or 3 days at a time. Having 4 shcool-age children at home keeps us extremely busy most days.

I work as an electrical engineer 32 hours a week. The part-time status has been so helpful, but I seem to stay so busy on my "off" day that I never feel like it's a relaxing day! But, I enjoy being at home that one day a week I get the luxury!!

    I agree with you - changes can be extremely slow. But, they are changes all the same and if I think about my house about a year ago, it's definitely not the same house as today. So take your time implementing new habits - babysteps! Find what works for you!
    I do some yoga (only 3 postures) with my son every evening to help him relax before bed. then I do some more on my own before my own bedtime. So good! You can browse youtube and see some great bedtime routine there.
    I've also found something more interesting to do for my daughter and I while my son is at his karate lesson. Last year I didn't know what to do except eating (not very interesting!). This year, I take her to the library!

    Hi! Thanks for your nice message!
    Actually, I'm not trying new recipes these days - I'm too busy implementing a simple routine that I can follow without getting mad. So tonight was 'curry night'. Tomorrow is going to be a marinade and so on. The idea is that on Mondays, there will always be curries but the vegetables I use are going to be different. These recipes only take me a few minutes to prepare and I know them by heart.
    How about you? Have you found a routine that suits you and your lifestyle?
