Watch out, the first step is a big one!

I decided in that it was time to get my life in order. I made that decision three years ago, and have been up and down since, always one step forward and two steps back. First a medical issue stopped me from doing any exercises for eight months. Then more recently, my father passed away and I was left to handle everything, and I used that as my excuse to stop taking care of myself.

Now is the time to put me first. I set up a home gym to work out in and I just got a recumbent bike ...

I set up a home gym to work out in and I just got a recumbent bike I have been riding every day. I went to my doctor for a complete physical, and help and guidance in doing this the right way.

I am trying to eat healthier and be more active. Instead of trying to lose all of the weight at once, (which isnt realistic), I want to take it a few pounds at a time and keep it off. It took me 40 years to get this way, it wont come off in one summer.

my new goals are:
1st goal lose 15 pounds (made it!!!!)

2nd goal 25 pounds by December 31st
3rd goal 35 pounds by March 31st

Realistically, if I make them, great. If I make them a little late, great, if I am close, great. My main goal is to be moving forward in life, and lower on the scale, even if its in baby steps.

My Goals:
I want to lose 30-64 pounds. I probably need to lose 64 to be at peak health, but I'm willing to take it slow and adjust my goals as needed. I'd love to be "thin" but realistically, I want to be healthier, and more active. I want to be stronger.

I also want to clean and organize my house for my family. I want it to be a nice, peaceful, and happy place.

My Program:
Working out at home atleast 5 days a week. I just got a recumbent bike, and I have an exercise unit with two towers to do weighted exercises. I recently completed physical therapy for a shoulder injury and am starting yoga and stretching exercises with those graduating bands. I'm also watching what I eat, and choosing healthy options when available.

Personal Information:
I'm from Michigan. I have 3 great kids ages 18 to 23. At the moment I am UNHAPPILY married.

Other Information:
I'm a huge Rick Springfield fan. I've been a dedicated fan since 1981 and still go to his concerts! I use all of his music on my MP3 player to help me excercise longer!

Thanks for your comments... To answer your question, It has been going on since I was a child, I was a victim of the step parent issue as well as step brother and half sister. The step-mother was very mean to me and treated me as such, step-child. I have tried for years to gain their acceptance in so many way and finally I have realized I have to let it go. There is no chance that they will ever except me for me and learn to love me for who I am. So I am doing as you say, making the Holidays new and grand with my inner family. (Husband, and child) This is my year for change, in all areas of my life. So thanks, I think I wrote the blog for closer and to see it daily as a reminder of my new me and life. Happy Holidays! And Thanks, glad to know I'm not just being wrong and others see life as I do....

hi...I want to thank you for the time and thought you put into your comment on my blog. Yes, total paralysis is the risk; or at the very least-pain increasing which honestly I can't imagine ....My ID (Infectious Disease) doctor had a fit when I broached the topic of a biologic drug to him...Said it would almost certainly kill me. So to choose that option is not quite as obvious as it would appear. Paralysis----Death...hmmmm. what options!
