Rick Springfield, my musical motivation!

Once again, I decided that it is time to get my life in order. I've made that decision before, a lot in fact. Always one step forward and two steps back. First it was kids, long work commute, and a busy life. Then it was a money issue, since the family is not on this path with me. Who could afford the cost of two different menus, or the fees to workout at a gym. Then my father passed away and I was left to handle everything, and I used that as my excuse to stop taking care of myself. More recently, I had a recurring medical issue that stops me from exercising for months at a time. All excuses and roadblocks I felt powerless against.
I turn 50 in a few months, now is the time to put me first. I set up a home gym to work out in and I got a recumbent bike I have been riding every day. I have a fitbit charge HR to help me keep track. I went to my doctor for a complete physical, and help and guidance in doing this the right way.
I am trying to eat healthier and be more active. Instead of trying to lose all of the weight at once, (which isnt realistic), I want to take it a few pounds at a time and keep it off. It took me 40 years to get this way, it wont come off in one summer.
I need to lose 60 pounds, but my current goals are:
1st goal lose 15 pounds by May 30th
2nd goal 25 pounds by July 31st
3rd goal 35 pounds by October 31st
Realistically, if I make them, great. If I make them a little late, great, if I am close, great. My main goal is to be moving forward in life, and lower on the scale, even if its in baby steps. I need help though. I'm a procrastinator, a quitter, and an excuse maker. I know this about myself. So, here I go again!
I want to lose 30-64 pounds. I probably need to lose 64 to be at peak health, but I'm willing to take it slow and adjust my goals as needed. I'd love to be "thin" but realistically, I want to be healthier, and more active. I want to be stronger.
I also want to clean and organize my house for my family. I want it to be a nice, peaceful, and happy place.
Working out at home atleast 5 days a week. I just got a recumbent bike, and I have an exercise unit with two towers to do weighted exercises. I recently completed physical therapy for a shoulder injury and am starting yoga and stretching exercises with those graduating bands. I'm also watching what I eat, and choosing healthy options when available.
I'm from Michigan. I have 3 great kids ages 20 to 26. Married 27 years.
I'm a huge Rick Springfield fan. I've been a dedicated fan since 1981 and still go to his concerts! I use all of his music on my MP3 player to help me excercise longer!

Thanks for your comments... To answer your question, It has been going on since I was a child, I was a victim of the step parent issue as well as step brother and half sister. The step-mother was very mean to me and treated me as such, step-child. I have tried for years to gain their acceptance in so many way and finally I have realized I have to let it go. There is no chance that they will ever except me for me and learn to love me for who I am. So I am doing as you say, making the Holidays new and grand with my inner family. (Husband, and child) This is my year for change, in all areas of my life. So thanks, I think I wrote the blog for closer and to see it daily as a reminder of my new me and life. Happy Holidays! And Thanks, glad to know I'm not just being wrong and others see life as I do....

hi...I want to thank you for the time and thought you put into your comment on my blog. Yes, total paralysis is the risk; or at the very least-pain increasing which honestly I can't imagine ....My ID (Infectious Disease) doctor had a fit when I broached the topic of a biologic drug to him...Said it would almost certainly kill me. So to choose that option is not quite as obvious as it would appear. Paralysis----Death...hmmmm. what options!
