Hi, I'm Becky.

I teach Adaptive Acquired Water Exercise and have added Water Zumba. I can do so much in the water, but can barely walk on land. It is so time to get serious. I work with Special Olympic adults as a softball and basketball coach. I also chaperone on many bus trips for other sports teams for the Special Olympic teams.

In December 2009 we had a family get together and took some pictures. When I saw how big I looked next to all of my "normal sized" girl cousins I cried. I guess I had been lying to myself for the last 50 years. So my New Year's resolution was to really get serious and stick with it this time.

Update #1: September 2010 I am still with it. I have lost over 60 pounds and I am still working out hard 3 days a week. I started out with 5 workout buddies and am down to just one that is faithful and one that is kinda now and then. The others have fallen by the wayside. I still have a long way to go but I have got a good start.

I truly love working out and I think I have become addicted to it. But it is still so hard and the eating part is still hard, too. But, I am going to do it this time...no matter if it takes 5 years, I will get it done.

Update #2: December 30, 2010 and I am still going at it. I have lost 70 pounds. I had a rough month of December as we had a wedding right after Thanksgiving. The worst part was that we had to drive 1200 miles to get there and I had no major exercise for 10 days. Then at the Christmas break our pool is being painted so we are out for three weeks. Once January 10th gets here it will be like starting all over again for me. But, I am still doing it and will continue on.

Update #3: January 1, 2012 I am having difficulties. In the summer of 2011 I tore of muscle in my upper arm so had to quit swimming but continued my water exercise. I cut back considerably on the upper body workouts and it made a huge difference. Then I had another injury with my foot so I had to quit walking all together and bike riding was out, too. All I could do was the water exercise and that was not up to what I was doing. So I have gained back almost 30 pounds. The foot is healed and I can do more intense water exercise but still cannot do upper body with the arm. I have also found out that I have low thyroid and am now on medication for that. We'll see if it makes a difference. Oh, Did I mention that last summer I also found out that I have atrial fibrillation. That's a heart condition that has to be watched closely. But here's hoping that 2012 will be a lot better.

Update #4 May 9, 2012 I was hoping this year would be better than last. But on March 6 I had my gall bladder removed. The surgery went well and I was ready to get back in the pool. But 10 days later I developed a blood clot in my lungs. I was back in the hospital for several days with horrible back pain. I am still recovering from that so there has been no real exercise for over 2 months....but I am keeping my weight steady. I am so ready to get back in the weight room and on the bike again. Think I finally got the food under control.
