From 3/08 to 11/08 I lost 73 pounds and was feeling g-r-e-a-t! Whoo hoo!! What *they* say is true - the hardest part of a diet is to keep the weight off. Something happened at Thanksgiving and I went bezerrrko with food (even after I vowed I'd never put weight back on, here I am up a whopping 15 pounds from my lowest weight in November.)

What a disappointment! How did this happen? I know exactly how...I got lazy...I moved the scales into the office...I enjoyed too many dinners out...I over indulged at parties...I ate too late at night...I ate the wrong food...and I had a million excuses not to go to the gym.

Yesterday I climbed back up on the wagon. I'm picking myself up, dusting off, and keeping my mouth shut. Two days okay so far but no excerise. Baby steps...

1. It DOES make a difference to track every morsel of food. You don't realize how fast the calories, fat, carbs, and sodium add up.
2. It IS important to drink lots of water.
3. Exercise, no matter how much I hate it, is a necessity. Maybe some day I will grow to like it. ;-)
4. If I fall off the wagon, I MUST forgive myself and move on.
5. Plan ahead for my meals.

I've been heavy most of my life and have yo-yo'd from diet to diet. I lose weight, start to feel good, and then start eating like a piggy again...putting weight back on, but MORE than the previous time. I just plain love to eat good food. I eat when I'm happy, sad, frustratd, bored, excited, depressed, etc.

From what I remember of High School I was heavy but now that I look back on pictures, I was thin. So the weight has crept on over the years, but mainly from depression. I wish I could say that now it's a body image problem, but the scales certainly don't lie.

An eye opener for me was a church member, the same age as me, who recently died from a massive heart attack. I have high blood pressure and don't want to end my life that way.

So here's to a new start. :-)
