Taking care of me!

Hey all! Just trying to get back on track and live a healthy lifestyle. I am 31 years old and live in Queens, NY with my husband. I am special education teacher working in the Bronx. I am currently in my 5th year of teaching, working with a second grade class this year. I previously lost 125 pounds which took about 5 years to take off, but I gained about 75 lbs back. I am happy with myself as I am, but I want to change the bad habits which helped me gain back some weight and be healthy overall.

hello suri, you are off to a great start just by being happy the way that you are. i wish that i could say the same thing, but right now i can't, perhaps soon or at least one day. i hope that you are able to realize what is triggering these habits so that you may break them, and when you figure it out, please inform me. i know that i am an emotional eater, but i don't know how to change it. i still feel the need to eat to the point of no return at the moment of any anxiety, stress, boredom, just because moment. i am also recovering from bulimia nervosa. i feel like i can relate to an alcoholic or drug addict because it can be ten years since their last drink or smoke and yet to be in a room with a drink or smoke would be tempting for them, they would always be an addict. with food everytime something happens to me, although it has been quite some time since i have practiced that, i always have the desire to do so. i feel as if i am constantly in emotional fear. please share your journey with me and to you goodness.

Welcome to SP! I love your attitude - happy with yourself, but wanting to be healthier. I think that might be the best way of looking at it!

Here's to you and your journey - and to keeping it off forever!
