This was my original introduction in October of 2010: "I've recently found that my blood pressure is high. I heard that losing weight and getting fit is a good way to lower blood pressure. I want to make a lifestyle change, be more active, and have more energy for my two sons!"

After a little over a month of exercising and watching my food intake, I had lost almost 10 Pounds. THEN I got stuck. I stayed that way for weeks. Exercising, watching my diet. No more weight loss! It was then that I found out I had hypothyroidism. In my depression and despair, I went back to my old ways. Then 10 pounds came back (plus 2 more), my blood pressure went back up, and I was feeling miserable.

Well, after about a year of this, I could not take it any more. I desperately needed a lifestyle change. I started exercising again (on the treadmill), and I am going back to watching what I eat. I am trying to eat the foods that are recommended in the DASH diet (to lower blood pressure). I started out walking, and then progressed to walking/jogging. On Christmas day, I jogged for 20 minutes without stopping!

I am feeling better, and my blood pressure is coming down. No considerable weight loss yet, but I do not want to give up this time. Hopefully, the weight will come down as I get more fit. I no longer want to live like I was living before!
