This is a picture of the fire station at Greensburg, Kansas. (I know...an odd picture for someone to pick for their web page.) But I have chosen this picture because:

#1) I like this picture. It reminds me of HOPE...Although mother nature did this kind of damage, I have damaged my own life by letting myself get out of shape and deteriorate--maybe I should have put a delapitated building instead of a devastated one....I see hope in that I will "clean up" all the extra poundage and "rebuild" my body into a better "station" than I ever had before--"cleaner" and more efficient!

#2) I am a former fire fighter. #778 Butler County Fire District #7. Man, I miss those guys!

#3) I live rural Kansas and have seen tornado destruction first hand, yet am still totally fascinated with tornados and weather in general. (Also former storm spotter)

NEW BEGINNING:
2-11-08 Okay, I let myself fall to pieces again. I am back to my orignial starting weight...I had gotten down to 147 pound and was running up to 8 miles a day. Then, it happenend.....I quit exercising and went back to old eating habits....I gained back nearly all my weight and now am totally out of shape again. I have started having alot of health issues since gaining the weight and am totally convinced that the extra flab I have gained has done it's toll to exacerbate my health problems that were being managed when I was skinnier. You would think that since I am a health care professional and I personally felt better when I was exercising regularly and eating better, that I would continue on that path, but I didn't. I even stopped sparkpeople which I truely feel was the final blow on my spiral downward....

BUT I am back...and I am looking forward to feeling better and better health as I get back on the sparkpeople bandwagon.

My Goals:
I would like to go from 166# to 125# by 2008--actually I would like that to happen sooner than in one year...but I need to be patient I guess....



long-term: I want to be a active, fit grandma that is able to hike, climb mountains, and ski and just really enjoy retirement like I should



short-term: be able to just pull some clothes off a rack and look somewhat decent in them


My Program:
I am mostly just trying to burn more calories than I consume.



I also am trying to be more active in not only a daily stretching and exercise regime, but mostly to get up after supper and be active. That is one of my main problems that caused me to put all this weight on, is eating a high fat supper and then going to bed or "vegging" with the computer or television

Nurse Practitioner in rural Kansas, married with 2 grown children and 2 high school cheerleaders--crazy, huh?
