My name is Amber. I'm about to turn 29 and I'm tired of being overweight. I'm hoping to lose about three pounds a week--reaching my goal weight by sometime next summer. My beginning goals are to eliminate eating out (or at least minimize it to maybe once a month), to take a walk outside daily, and to post my goals in a visible place in my home. In high school, I weighed 150 lbs. Anti-depressants and stress eating has led me to a weight of 325 lbs. in just over ten years. I've since married. I want to have children, but my weight has made me infertile. My husband loves me just as I am, but I want to FEEL sexy for him. I used to feel attractive, but I don't anymore. I refuse to continue this way, facing down thirty very unhealthy with fertility fading. To achieve the family and lifestyle I want, something has to change, and I want to start today! I struggle with depression, and tend to give up easily. I'm probably going to need a lot of encouragement. I really hope that this forum will provide me with some much needed help. I would also love to make some encouraging friends to return the favor.
To lose 175 lbs. so that I can be healthy and have a long life with my husband. The ultimate goal is to lose enough weight to get pregnant.
I'm starting a little slowly because my bipolar disorder makes it difficult to stick with life changes. I'm aiming to stop eating out, start walking for 15-30 minutes daily, and remain active on this site to keep me motivated. As my endurance improves, I will slowly increase my daily physical activity. I also plan on taking advantage of the forums and all the people here who I can draw support from.

I just wanted to say hello. I saw your message on one of the spark teams. Joining SP is one of the best things you'll ever do for yourself! My advice is to take a few days to try everything on SP and learn what is available for you to use; don't be afraid to ask question and we're all here to support each other. Check out my SP page and blog (i write everything I've done for the week so that when I lose all of my weight, I'm going to print them off and have them made into a book for me to read).
Good luck, you CAN do this, and remember, it is a journey not a race. It took me 10 years to get to where I was, so 2 years of work is nothing compared to a life of saddness and self hate.

Yay! I'm glad you're on here, it's def a good start. I always fell off the wagon after a few days when I tried to diet on my own but so far I've stuck with it since June 1st.
To get the weight loss ticker, I believe when you hover over the community button on your start page, click 'Sparkpages'. On the right will be a button for 'Edit my Sparkpage'. Keep scrolling down the page until you come to a box where you can enter your current weight and goal weight and choose the background for the ticker. Make sure you check the box that says 'Show ticker' and you should be in business!
Let me know if you need any more help, I'm at your service!
