Embracing my inner athlete

OK, so I'm 65. Does that mean I cannot be athletic. Absolutely not. I am there and intend to stay there. I am close to my goal weight, so continuing weight loss is not really the point. My participation in SparkPeople is all about learning from those who have met their goals and how they maintain their weight and their fitness. My passion is to inspire others to reach their goals and become all that they can be. To the extent I can do that I will spend the next 30 years being fulfilled

My Goals:
I have three goals. #1 is to live a healthy lifestyle. That means eating smart, getting lots of exercise and work on getting more sleep. #2 is to slowly lose about 15 lbs, or at least redistribute some of it, as in remove it from the belly and put more of it into upper body muscle. #3 is to encourage, stimulate and motivate as many people as I can to follow my example, by being a good community member on SparkPeople, and by providing a good example to my friends and family.

My Program:
Eat less, move more. I don't count my calories, fat etc., I am just careful about the foods that I select and try to be aware of the portion I consume. My exercise program includes Spinning, trail running, yoga, swimming, cycling and strength work. I try to make sure I do a minimum of 30 minutes a day of exercise

Personal Information:
My name is Chuck, I am 65 and am actually in very good health. I have 6 children, 12 grand-children and two great-grandchildren. A few extra pounds have found there way on and I want to live to be 110, so, here we go!!!I I am recently retired and am trying to be a good house-husband to my still working teacher wife while enjoying my several passions.

Other Information:
My passions, besides my family which always comes first, are photography, quilting and writing. I also love to work out, especially cardio.

Ah, MorroBayChuck, thank you for adding me as a friend. Not sure what prompted you, but when I saw your name I smiled! I used to live in Morro Bay, as did my parents for many years. I also love to quilt and take photographs, but just started on my healthy weight-losing journey here at SP! This website has kept me motivated, focused, and inspired. I have 5 grandchildren scattered in Chicago and Philly, so I do as much traveling as I can. Your blog was inspirational, Chuck, and I wish you and your family the best your future can hold.
