For 2017 I made a resolution. It had been many years since I had done that because I'm so bad at keeping them! This year I felt I could commit to a long term goal, break it down into small goals and have a couple of specific things to do to make it happen. My main goal has been to just have a healthy relationship with food and to feel okay about myself and not worry about it all the time.

It mainly comes down to:
Eat healthy foods in moderation MOST of the time;
Walk with my friend at least 4 days a week.

My Goals:
For 2017 -
Specifically, I commit to eating healthy, planned afternoon snacks only when hungry (no grazing); keeping to 7 oz. wine in the evening most evenings, and keeping up my daily walks. Now nearing the middle of November, I can honestly say that I am mostly doing all these things. Also joined a couple of good exercise classes and am doing a 12 week wellness program with my doctor.

Be happy and content.
Live a balanced life.
Do something worthwhile each day.


My Program:
Eat a healthy diet in moderate amounts - mostly fruits, vegs and whole grains. (Have cut way back on meats)

Do the things I enjoy doing - help with grands, see family, knit, read, garden, tea or lunch with a friend weekly.

Get in activity off and on throughout the day.

Have some outside in the sun time whenever possible.



Personal Information:
The afternoon snack problem is sneaking back into my life, and I am going for another streak. Before I went for six weeks. This time I am not going to put a limit on it. I will put a big red "X" on my planner if I fall off the wagon, then climb right back on and keep going. (Forgot all about the big red "X"! - and I have fallen off any number of times. But that's becoming a less frequent occurrence).

My long term goal is to monitor my thinking and do away with negative thoughts, replace with positive, happy ones. It is possible to do; I have done it before, but the negative thinking is creeping back. Time to banish it!
