I'm a divorced dad of a wonderful, cooler-than-I-ever-knew-possible six year old son. I joined SparkPeople in March, 2007 with the encouragement of my then wife, who was also on SparkPeople. After some small successes, life intervened. I suffered from a severe case of depression and, frankly, really let myself go. The depression was bad enough that I sought help and was on put on disability. I slept almost all day due to the depression and subsequent anti-depressants. My wife finally had had enough and filed for a divorce. I was in a downward spiral and knew I had to do something. The divorce was a bit of a wakeup call, but an innocent comment made by my son was just what I needed. That beautiful little man told me what I needed to hear without even realizing it, but it sure lit a fire under me. I knew I had to get healthy to be around for my son as long as possible, and to be a better example for him. I started my second true go-round on SP in January of 2012, and I'm getting healthier and happier constantly. I'm more active, can play and run with my son more now, and I'm incredibly happy. I never listened to people when they said that exercise and exposure to sunshine can stave off depression, but now I'm a true believer. I enjoy the support I get here on SP, and the friends I've made.

My Goals:
I'm going to reach a healthy weight of 170 pounds. I'm going to be able to walk into any clothing store I want and not have to worry if I will be able to find something that fits me. I will reverse my hypertension and sleep apnea.

My Program:
Eating healthy. Eating between 1600 - 2000 calories a day. Cardio on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Core strength on Mondays, Upper body on Wednesdays, and lower body on Fridays.
