My Journey continues

Hi
I found SparkPeople over 2 years ago after I had reached a goal of losing 74 pounds.Last year I lost an additional 10 pounds to get me out of the overweight bmr. I felt that I needed to continue with new ideas of better health and SparkPeople was the answer. I have become more active and I am on some teams and using more of the tools that Spark offers. At the prsent time I have maintained the loss over 2 years. I turned 70 in Feb. and my goal is to walk a 10K race before I reach 71.

emoticon Monty, You were on my mind so I thought I would stop by & let you know how I'm doing. As of 1/3/15 I have been back on track & doing well.. This time being back on track worrying me. The weight isn't coming off as fast. Why, who knows . Is my age starting to play a factor? Whatever the reason it scared me enough that this might be my last chance at the weight coming off at a fairly decent rate. I've been living between 220ville & 230ville for over a year now.IT'S TIME FOR ME TO MOVE ON ONCE AND FOR ALL! I will see Onederland this. That is a promise I made myself. I wish you were here for all the encouragement & support you gave me. I could sure use that now! emoticon emoticon I know your watching over all your spark friends!

I just read your comment on a blog (copied and pasted below in case you have forgotten) and was impressed with your logic / comments. I agree! I also have problems with my legs due to injuries many years ago. I'm thankful they work at all! :)

emoticon on releasing the weight! Apparently you have been away a while. I hope you come back soon!

I read this article and I just can not agree with it. In one of the last paragraphs, it said the purpose of the article was not to get people to walk faster, but to know that it was a indicator of the persons overall health. that , from some peoples reading may frighten them, since they don't or can't walk fast. The article does not take into considerations like bad hips, or or other leg disabilities , that in themselves are in good health, a bad hip isn't poor health. So, after all these years of encouraging people to walk, do 10, 000 steps, we are going to let them know that slow walking is a indicator of poor health. I broke a ankle 10 years ago and can't walk as fast as I use, On an average day I walk 8.4 miles and depending on who I walk with, sometimes very slow. I am 71 and have released 84+ pounds and feel better than I ever have. I will complete a 4,063 mile virtual walk across America tomorrow. There are hundreds of people over 65 living in my commun ity that walk, it may look leasurely but they are walking, and then along comes a article that says that their slow walking could be a indicator of poor health. This article could frighten more people than it helps and I wish there was a way it could deleted - 1/30/2011 12:44:31 AM
