The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a woman!

I live in northern Wisconsin, now have 2 backyard horses that I share with my husband. He rarely rides, but I ride regularly except in bad weather and winter.

At 63 I'm tired of losing the same weight over and over, and am hoping that Spark People will assist me to be more consistent in my nutrition. The tracking is helpful, and enlightening for me.

Exercise has rarely been an issue, as I do the horsekeeping duties, and we make hay to sell (throwing hay bales is a great workout!). Then there's walking the dog and actually riding the horses (does grooming them count as aerobic????). I also do at least a half hour of DVD aerobics 5-7 days a week. Used to do Curves, but our local franchize closed.
Here in Wisconsin, lawn care and gardening are at best 6-7 month activities, but there's snowshoeing and cross-country skiing when there's snow.

So basically, it's the nutrition aspect that I have to develop better habits. Sad to say, dark chocolate is a great weakness.

Hi there. I just noticed the two gifts that you put on my page. Thanks so much. I am not a horse owner myself but have always loved them and used to ride whenever I could. I hope that you are doing well and succeeding at reaching your goals. Have a Great Day and I'll check in again. emoticon

Hi, I saw your posting on the team for 60 and over horse lovers, just wanted to introduce myself! I was a member of that team but quit because it was so inactive..........no one to talk to!
I belong to a couple of other horse related teams, am the leader of the Paint Horse Lover's team.
We used to raise registered Paint Horses, but the summer of 2011 we dispersed most of our horses, only have 2 left, the stallion and one of his daughters, a 3 yr. old mare that we bred and raised, and that I am now riding.
We got rid of most of the horses so that we could travel in our RV and not have to worry about someone taking care of all the horses.
I am still having to work, for my health insurance, so we won't be going that often anymore. One more campout this year, this coming week with our Good Sams group.

Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say HI and welcome you to Spark People! emoticon
