On the Road to Better Health

I am a SAHM with 2 boys, ages 10 & 14. I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life. 3+ yrs ago, I quit smoking! WOO HOO! I have multiple sclerosis and was hospitalized last year. After the terrible drugs I was given I decided I HAD to do as much as I personally could for my health. I can't do anything about having MS but I can lower my BP to a healthy rate, and eat right, and exercise more. So I decided to try Herbalife products in December of 2006. I have done well on them but ...

After the terrible drugs I was given I decided I HAD to do as much as I personally could for my health. I can't do anything about having MS but I can lower my BP to a healthy rate, and eat right, and exercise more. So I decided to try Herbalife products in December of 2006. I have done well on them but I am concerned that I will have a difficult time transitioning from the shakes to real food when the time comes. Plus, the products are too expensive for me personally. As I cannot currently work, I have guilt spending the money I do on the products I use.
So I am hoping SparkPeople can help my transition. I am very excited about this new turn of events!

My Goals:
Lose the last 30 lbs or so(hopefully by Feb. 2007), Become tone, reduce body fat.
Control my BP with my diet.
Enjoy the remaining years as healthy as I can be and be the best role model for my children as I can possibly be!

My Program:
1-Calorie goal 1000-1200
2- Strength training -3x's /wk (30 mins.)
3- Water aerobics- 2x's/wk
4-Cardio 45-60+ mins. 5-7 days /wk
I am very motivated with exercise but I do suffer from severe fatigue so I do the best I can. Exercise helps me fight the fatigue I experience.

Personal Information:
My name is Lisa. I am from a small town in NE PA. I am happily married for 17+ yrs. We have 2 wonderful boys, 10 & 14. They are the center of our world but they are like night and day....completely opposite! They have very little in common, so yes, they argue ALOT!

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are truly important.

Please keep me up to date with the results from your test. You'll be in my prayers. (you are any way)
I am so proud of you!!! Honestly, you've been a long time without forgetting your injection. You get the GOLD STAR!!!
I'm doing pretty good. I am at such a stand still with my diet though. I totally understand "the of small bite of a brownie" thing. LOL for me it ends up being half the pan. Not so "LOL"

I do miss our daily chats too. I'll try to check in more often. Even if it just to say ......"Peace". (my son just went back to college yesterday & that is how he ends every conversation) It was great having him home. Ho-Hum, I miss him already.

Have fun with your cardio, Kathy

Hello, hello, Happy New Year to you too!

Way to go with the injections. You are the best.

As for the YMCA.... yuck... I went up once & my membership had not been fully processed. Well, of course I have not been back... Speaking of backs,,,, for the first time in my life I hurt my back. This is a long story, here goes....
My Uncle Johnny, who has severe Down Syndrome, was is the hospital for 6 days. (ICU for 3 of them). They thought it was congested heart failure, then pnumonia, & finally bronchitious.
Well, he the sweetest ,most innocent, angel anyone has ever met. Because he is so impaired, he doesn't understand much at all. So when the nurse that was cleaning him came out of his room with a kick a** attitude and started ranting & raving that he was not following her commands, and was refusing to roll over. I sternly told her that he just didn't understand her & was deaf in one ear & extremly hard of hearing in his other. She had a very long stick up her butt!!!! She told me that she had requested help. ERRRRR. So I stood outside his room & wiated for her help to arrive. When help came the help asked ME to do it!!!??? I of course said I'd do anything for my uncle. So, I pulled 215 pounds of dead weight over. Well, my back didn't hurt imediatly, but that night, which was New Years Eve, I couldn't move.(yes, we throw a family party) (that's another story) I can tell you back pain is not fun. I could lay down & stand , that was all!!! If I so much as just reached to answer the phone, I got shooting pain through my left back/hip.
Thank God, my uncle is out of the hospital. He is slowly on the road to recovery.
I am better as well. Hubby wanted me to go to the hospital, by NO WAY. That is where it happened. That inconsiderate, inapt nurse.
I have never liked hospitals!!!! I have way to many bad memories!!!! You know how it is, MS, yuck.

Happy New Year!!!!!!

What a great surprize it was to hear from you!!! I couldn't be happier, you are doing your injections!!! I am so proud of you. That is the best Christmas present you could have given me!!!

I haven't gone to the Y yet... I know... I am sure I've gained as well. I refuse to get on the scale. I don't want to get discouraged.

We have 2 boxes of chocolates :( It is too tempting. Considering I've already given one away. (the one with the truffles)

I will go to the Y tomorrow. (hopefully)

All my best, your partner , Kathy
