I am a 41 year-old mom who has been married for 9 years and I also work outside of the home. I need some support and I also need some motivation! I am doing Spark People for a second time and I am hoping that it will help me once again reach my goals.

I have been overweight most of my life and have decided that I need to make this a lifelong commitment....no more excuses!! I am doing this for me and also hoping to pass on good, healthy habits to my 7 year-old son.

Forty is the new 20 and I am ready to face this challenge head on and succeed!!!

My Goals:
Mainly just to make the right decisions and to be a great role model for the young man in my life. I don't want him to experience what I have throughout my childhood and I want him to pass on to his children what I hope he has learned from me.


My Program:
I currently belong to Planet Fitness and try to make it to the gym at least 3 times a week. I also like to run outside when it is warm or not raining.




Personal Information:
I have struggled with weight issues most of my life. I have been an overweight teen and adult and I am trying my hardest not to pass that on to my son.

April 11th, 2011 Spark People Virtual 10K (signed up) 85:30
April 30, 2011: Let's Move Festival in Macomb County, MI. Half Marathon. 2:53:56! PR!
October 16, 2011: Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon 2:56:43.

Completed races in 2012:
February 26, 2012: Disney Princess Half Marathon 3:19:06

October 22, 2012: Detroit International Half Marathon

    I found your SparkPage through one of my emoticon 's pages. I'm a runner, too, although I'm new at it. I just LOVE to run! I especially like running more slowly and covering a longer distance (10k for me now, but I want to slowly increase my mileage) rather than short and speedy. emoticon

    I just happened about your sparkpage. I live in the Detroit area as well and am a runner. I have done several 10Ks and 5Ks. I will be doing my first half at the festival of races in April and have also signed up for the Detroit half. Maybe I will see you at a race sometime

    I too have a son and when he sees people who are overweight he often looks at them with a kind of sadness. I explain that we do not know the reason that people are overweight so we should not stare at them or make comments but if we see them walking or trying to be active to give them words of encouragement to keep going.
    I applaud you for knowing that your mom"s negative attitude will have long lasting effects on your son and removing both of you from the relationship
