Hi and welcome to my Sparkpage! My name is Bethany and I am 26 years old. I first joined Spark People in the fall of 2009, my goal was to loose 10 pounds before my husband came home from Iraq. With the help of Spark People and my membership at 24 hour fitness, I was able to drop from 145 to 132. I felt great and I felt even better watching my husband's face as we were reunited after a year a part.
In January of 2010, my husband came home and was in the process of getting out of the Army, we were also in the process of trying for our first baby, so I had to say goodbye to two wonderful things: My 24 membership and Spark People. I found out in June of 2010 that we were pregnant.
Of course, with pregnancy, now came the weight gain. I had already put back on 10 pounds when I got pregnant and I went from 145 to 195 by the end of my pregnancy. (Takes a big breath) .. yes a 50 pound weight gain. I knew it would happen, so it wasn't a big deal.
Well, here I am. On February 23, 2011 I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl. Leah! It was an amazing experience and I have enjoyed being a Mommy. Leah will be a month old tomorrow ( March 23 ) and I decided it was time to get back with Spark People. I am 4 weeks out from the day Leah was born ( and the day I weighed 195 pounds ). I currently weigh 167 pounds, an almost 30 pound weight loss in 4 weeks. I am super proud of myself so far, and hope to loose the next 20 pounds with the help of watching my calories and walking as much as I can, in this Texas heat!
My body is not the same, that is one thing for sure, but I have came to terms that - it never will be. My hips are wider, I have stretch marks, and there are some jeans that just won't ever fit -- and its OKAY! I have a beautiful baby girl and she was worth it all.
However, I still want to loose the weight and feel great. So, my goal? I would like to be down to 145 by my birthday in November ( on the 30th).
I loved Spark People before and I am so happy to be back. I am looking forward to loosing the weight and meeting others on here! This website is full of support and encouragement and I hope to be an encouragement to others.
Feel free to add me as a SparkFriend. I love to blog, so make sure to stop by my blog for updates on my adventure to a new body!
Update for February 2012: It's been almost 1 year since I've had Leah. Through the help of SP and running ( I am NOT a runner, by the way) around my block and doing the little things ( more of my weight loss journey is through my blog) - I was able to reach my goal by November 30th 2011 and loose OVER 50 pounds! I am now in a stength training and cardio routine and trying to loose another 5-10 pounds by April 1, 2012. Most of all, trying to tighten up this new-mommy-muffin-top that is hanging from all my weight loss ( don't you hate when that happens?)
Love - B

NEXT GOAL SET ON 12/12/11:
Loose 10 pounds by April 1, 2012.
How I lost the 50 pounds?
In 9 months I lost a little over 50 pounds. I had several medical issues at the beginning, so I didn't fully start my dieting and weight loss until the end of July. I had over 20 pounds to loose at that point.
What did I eat? I calculated my calories on SP. I still ate my Taco Bell on occasion and I didn't fully cut out any food in particular, I just made sure I made room for the special food I wanted to eat and stayed in my calorie range. I eat small lunches (salads, soups) and I always have either oatmeal or a yogurt for breakfast. Dinner is fair game, I just eat 1 portion ( and ONE only) and try to keep it as close to 500 and under in calories as possible.
I did cut out soda tremendously. Is it gone entirely? No. I have one every now and again, but my daily drink of choice is water or tea (water has been a struggle for me!).
Execise: I did not have a gym membership until just a few weeks ago, so all of that 50 was done with do

Dropping by Bethany to say hi and wish you a great Thursday ahead, also want you to know you are being though of today, hope all is well, please keep in touch.
Hope you enjoy the Easter Poem!
This Life on Earth
Easter means that this life on earth
is not all there is.
Jesus went "to prepare a place for us"
in His Father’s heavenly mansions
for all eternity.
Jesus died for our sins,
paying our penalty,
so that we could be forgiven.
He was resurrected, to prove
that death has no hold
on those who repent
and accept Him as Savior.
This life on earth is a prelude
to eternal joy with our Lord.
Easter is a celebration
of our eternal destiny.

What Is A Friend?
A friend is someone always there
in the back of your mind,
providing feelings of comfort and security.
A friend is someone
who adds happy sparkle to your life,
joy, fun, a predictable creator of happiness.
A friend is a stormproof shelter
from life’s challenges, troubles, uncertainties,
an unassailable bond overcoming any challenge,
strengthening the connection in the process.
You are all this and more, my friend.
