Update 4/26/12

I have been following Nutrisystem for the past 3 months. It has been really great. The convenience and support of the plan has helped me stay on track!




Update 5/6/09
I haven't been on Spark much lately. Work has been so busy and I haven't had time. I am keeping a journal for food & exercise which I update on my commute. I have been chugging along the last few weeks eating well and exercising hard. I'm going to try the C25K program again. I'm also doing a few step classes a week and a lifting class or two.

Refocus in 2009!

I started with Spark almost a year ago. I lost 20 lbs in 2008. While I wanted it to be more, I am still happy with the progress I have made.

This year I want to get down to 200. My plan is to keep my calories under 2000 on average per day. I want to do 4 circuits, run 2 miles and bike 20 miles every week. If I can keep this up I will get to my goal :)

I have changed my Spark Page many Times - I'm going to keep up my previous comments so I can come back and look at all the different phases of this journey.

Update 7/1/2008

I seem to change my "program" or whatever you want to call it much more often than I change my sparkpage. But I think that is good as it keeps my body guessing. Well I kind of lost focus/motivation for much of April/May and some of June with visits to & from friends and family. I was lucky to only gain 1 or 2 lbs.

I have been refocusing and am trying to get in an hour of exercise a day. I have been swimming 30 mins everyday and either lifting or running for another 30 mins. This along with watching what I eat seems to be working. I am sort of still calorie cycling, but more like trying to keep my calories lower most days with a splurge meal or two every week. My spark range is 1640 - 2040, but since I go well over 2040 on splurge days I am trying to keep my calories under 1500 on regular days.

Update 4/10/2008

I have been having results with the calorie cycling. I've lost 4 lbs in almost three weeks. I had lost 7 lbs but I gained back 3 - I think it might just be water weight. But I think having 2 high calorie days and 2 medium calorie days might be too much temptation for me. I think I will shoot to hit 1800 calories most days and just bump it up to the high calorie days once a week.

My main goal will be to keep my protein high - so if that means going over my calories I think it is OK. I have this EAS protein powder that is great - 27 grams of protein (140 calories) which seems to fill me up reasonably in the morning - so I'm gonna keep up with that.

Calorie range: 1800-2300
Average daily calories = 2057

SUN - 2100 - Walk/Run (intervals walk 2 mins sprint 1 min for 30 mins)
MON - 1800 - Swim (30 mins light cardio)
TUE - 2400 - Pump class & walk or short run (15 mins)
WED - 1800 - Rest
THUR - 2100 - Walk/Run (intervals walk 2 mins sprint 1 min for 30 mins)
FRI - 1800 - swim or lighter walk/run or eliptical (30 mins)
SAT - 2400 - Pump class & walk or short run (15 mins)

Macronutrient breakdown for 40% carb/30% protein/30% fat ratio

1800 calorie day:
GRAMS PER DAY - 180 grams carbs/135 grams protein/60 grams fat

2100 calorie day:
GRAMS PER DAY - 210 grams carbs/157 grams protein/70 grams fat


2400 calorie day:
GRAMS PER DAY - 240 grams carbs/180 grams protein/80 grams fat

I'm ready to get healthy and lose this extra weight! I'm planning to eat healthier and exercise - I know rocket science. Hopefully this site will help.
