I love you!
I'm a mother of 2 daughters and a grandmother of 5.
Growing up, I never had a weight problem. When I was 28, I started to gain weight, and then after a few years, I would lose it, but never back down to the weight I wanted to be. Over the years, I've noticed that this has become a cycle--it happens about every 7 years.
A few years ago, I reached a weight of 215 (the highest I'd ever weighed) but lost 75 of it by drinking lots of orange juice (which made me feel full and less likely to eat a lot) and going back to work, something I hadn't done for quite awhile. I was always on my feet and moving.
I don't eat properly. I almost never have except as a child and when I was in my early 20's. I crave sugar sometimes; not necessarily candy but anything sweet. I don't have much of an appetite and that also makes it hard to eat properly.
In 2001, I injured my back from moving a heavy piece of furniture. I even had help doing it. A week later, the pain hit me so hard and when I went to the ER, they thought I had kidney stones. Shortly after that, I was told I had a muscle tear and it would take about 6 months to heal. Two years after the incident, I'd had an MRI done. It showed that I had herniated disks. I was put on "restrictions" regarding my job, but my supervisors never did adhere to them until it was too late. Shortly after that, I lost my job. Since then, I've gained some weight. Part of it is the way I eat and the other part is the fact that I cannot exercise or at least do the exercises that would help me the most. I already have problems with my knees because of being overweight and I'm sure it's not helping my back any. In spite of how I feel, I think.....
I CAN DO THIS but I sure do need a lot of help!
1. Find a good support system
2. To lose 40 pounds
3. Learn how to eat healthy
4. Feel better about myself
5. To be able to do more things with my granddaughter.
As of yet, I don't have a program as I'm still working on other "life" stuff: finding the best kind of exercise to do, quitting smoking and trying to eat properly (not necessarily for weight loss at this point).
I was born and raised in Denver, which is where I live now.
I enjoy beading, reading, playing on the computer, good movies, good music and bike riding when I can. I've been babysitting my granddaughter since she was 2 months old, everyday.

Welcome to the team Take it one day at a time and it will happen.....I just fell off the program for a few days so NOW I'm back on the "horse" again...One thing, I noticed there is no big guilt trip....I blew it and understand why so now I go on knowing that I have learned one more thing about myself...I am now one day at a time taking control of my emotions and telling myself no more bad talking to self and putting others feelings and wants ahead of mine for a change....I can't be responsible for others response I can only be responsible for mine. I'm not talking about being disrespectful to anyone just time to stop being disrespectful to myself.....Have a wonderful day!

It may take some time to get where you want to be but you can do it!! I rejoined Spark the last week of March 2008, since then I have lost as of today 18.5 pounds!! I am almost halfway to my goal and I am psyched. I have met lots of great people and I joined a few teams. I do the challenges that I feel comfortable with and use the trackers almost every day. Blogging really helps and public blogs are great b/c members will respond to them and give you advice and encouragement. If you use this site to it's fullest potential you will get to your goal.
