You don't get what you want, you get what you work for!!

I discovered Sparkpeople October 2011. I've spent the last year or so using the nutrition & fitness trackers, reading amazing success & inspirational stories, cooking some delicious recipes, getting good fitness advise & taking in some overall wellness information. I've had some success with weight loss but have a long way to go! So..... I decided it's time to crank it up a notch!! Time to start a SparkPage and be in the trenches with everyone else!! To be supportive & get support. I think ...

My Goals:
Well my goals are probably a lot like everyone elses~~ Lose the weight, get in shape, feel better physically & emotionally & lead a healthy happy life! Here's some things I'm shooting for:
Short term goal: Fit comfortably into my favorite pair of worn out Levi's!

Mid term goal: lose 26lbs in 26 weeks..(July 6, 2013)
also going to a large family wedding that wknd,,yikes!! Better get workin'!!

Long term goal: lose a total of 50lbs by Dec. 31, 2013.

I've already hit one major goal & that was to create this SparkPage& put my goals out there & be accountable! Check!

My Program:
Fitness:
I found an awesome 4 wk cardio/interval & strength/circuit workout. It's called "4 weeks to Fit & Fabulous." It's 2 cardio & 2 strength workouts per week. Also..

I recently bought Coach Nicole's "28 Day Bootcamp" & "Total Body Sculpt & Tone" DVD's.

I'm going to alternate the 3 workout plans,,1 each month.And....

I started Couch25K for those in between workouts!

I have a goal of burning 2300 calories thru excercise per week.

Nutrition: Try eating clean 80% of the week.

I'll try & say NO to:
Fried Food
Refined or White Flour/Rice
Sugar

But say YES to:
Lots of lean protien, fruits, veggies, whole grains & healthy fats & of course lots of H2o!

Other Information:
I've decided to give myself some incentives. Each week I hit my fitness and nutrition goals,( and I have to hit them both),, I'm rewarding myself with something I've had my eye on that's not food related!! ha ha

For my pumpkin oatmeal: 1/2 cup Bob's Red Mill rolled oats, cooked in 1 cup of water to desired consistency; remove from heat and add 1/4 cup of pure pumpkin puree, 1/2 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp of cinnamon. Top with 1/8 cup pecan halves and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. Around 374 calories depending on what brands you use. Not sweet, but sweet enough for Bandmom emoticon

WoooHoooo on running your first straight mile! I'm so proud of you! It feels really great doesn't it? To worry over something that you are afraid you cannot do...and then turn around and DO IT? That is POWER. That is why I became addicted to running...I feel Powerful emoticon

We did walk yesterday, about 2.25 miles. It was a nice walk!
Today I did 40 min of BL Bootcamp and I'm headed to yoga at lunch.
Tomorrow is weigh in day...fingers crossed that I'm down a little!

I've actually not made anything from the cookbook yet; but been reading it, silly I know.. but there are some good stories in there and a lot of good information. I've been marking the recipes I want to try, but you know what I really like? The seasonings... the special rub mixes. To think we never have to buy the packaged spices that are high in sodium ..that amazes me! I'm going to try your lemon chicken though.. I just bought lemon so I'm going to check it out... sounds really good!!!

Also, I've been trying a lot of their recipes on here [the website] and tweaking a lot of them too... I love it! emoticon
