To be fit for life is my goal. I began this quest in my head long before I began it in July 2011. I am 7 months into my new life and 35 lbs lighter. The best part is I am healthier than I was 25 years ago weighing much less than I do now. I am anxious to hit the one year mark of changing my life. It's not always easy, in fact it's seldom easy, but I keep going and endure. I use this particular talk by Dieter F. Uchtdorf to remind myself that I am in the process of becoming: "Patience means to abide in faith, knowing that sometimes it is in the waiting rather than in the receiving that we grow the most". http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2010
/04/continue-in-patience?lang=eng. Being healthy is something a person is never finished with. I have time; now it's being patient with my progress regardless of how long it takes.

My Goals:
To never quit! I want to run the 2 miles up the logging road without cursing...or rather whining, (4 miles total) AND run a few 5ks this summer!


My Program:
I first decided to give up my excuses. One by one I have. Then I began by slogging through a 20 minute walk on a trail...rain or snow, sleet or hail. I found excuses TO GO instead of excuses to stay in bed!
Everyday I read articles and tips on healthy lifestyles and constantly pushed myself, but slowly. I sincerely thank my Father in heaven for the "spark" to keep going...no mater what!



Personal Information:
I am a mom to 8...yes 8 children. 6 boys and two girls. 4 are adult with their lives, 2 merging into adults and two still in high school. I am married to a sweet man who adores me as much as I adore him. We live in Bellingham WA. In the woods on a creek...The most beautiful spot in the Pacific Northwest!


Other Information:
I am in pain from walking...I was in pain when I didn't walk, but now it's a healthy pain. I thought about food all the time, now I think about healthy food all the time. I realized exercise was hard but so would be taking a handful of meds to stay "healthy" exercise is hard but not as hard as going blind, not as hard as having my feet or legs amputated, not as hard as living with heart disease. Yep now I choose my hard, and my pain. A healthy lifestyle really is about choice...
