May 21, 2011:
I had my hip replacement surgery on October 12, 2010 and now almost 7 months later I feel great! I have been given the OK to exercise as I choose, no running allowed. I am also continuing with weight lifting, focusing not just on strength but also range of motion and stability, replacing hand weights with resistance bands and including variations of planks. For almost two years I have been eating a primal diet with great results- increased energy, much better sleeping, greatly reduced joint pain and swelling, no more mouth ulcers (must have been the grains) and much healthier hair and nails. This summer my DH and I embark on a new adventure, down sizing and building a new home on a country property. My passion for gardening should be satisfied for a few years at least as we start all over with landscaping.

For 2011 :
-eat clean- fresh fish, poultry, eggs and occasional red meat, 8-10 fresh freggies daily, seeds and nuts
-pay closer attention to portion size
-reduce my wine intake
-maintain walking program
- spend at least an hour in the garden daily (not in winter!)
-read a book every week

Goal- maintain my weight in the low to mid 130's

Personal Information:
I'm a farm kid from Alberta, lived in Ontario for 25 years and have now settled in Nova Scotia's beautiful Annapolis Valley. We have 2 adult children and one charming grandson plus a menagerie of dog, cats, fish and a chinchilla.


Other Information:
I love to garden. Crosswords and reading keep me busy when the snow flies. Cooking is also a delight- I'm always looking for new ideas for primal meals. I am passionate about diet and exercise and firmly believe that we do have the power to keep ourselves healthy by eating well and being active.

    I too am wondering if you are okay, I hope so.... you aren't that far down the road but I am not sure where to go looking for you. Praying that all is well and you are just busy..... we are all busy with holidays but new house too is probably keeping you hoping or no net maybe yet???

    I haven't heard from you in a while... but the truth is I have not been visiting my Spark friend's pages for a while either. No news is good news? I've been working on my 5th Nanowrimo and I think I might finish my novel this year. The goal is to send something in to an editor this time and at least get a rejection,lol.

    The weight has gone up and down a bit but I look at 210 and wonder if there is something wrong with my scale that I can't seem to get below it. I keep trying things and I won't give up, I'm still grateful to have lost 35 pounds since joining here. My DH points out that I have consistently lost the few pounds I do seem to put on so I'm losing weight but somehow I don't think that counts. The B&B is still going well. Nice guests right now and late risers so I was able to do 15 laps of the pool and some aquafit before serving breakfast. Kids are good. We went away for 3 weeks and my eldest managed on her own which is huge. Michelle is coming in January for a week. She is seems to have some chronic fatigue issues that lingered after she got over a long terrible case of mono .... so she is OK and is working on being a support counselor for her next carreer when she leaves the school board, but exercise is too difficult right now.

    Hope your house is DONE and you are walking lots before the weather gets difficult. What about your garden? Is DH good? DD? DGC?

    I am sitting on a ball and it is helping my back, but my butt is getting numb.... got to move around! Hope to hear from you, Justyna
